Awesome! Looks like Conde has ones I like. But do have any idea how much trouble that will get me in?

Wow! Those are great! Who carries those? The possibilities for those are endless. Hot rod posters is the first thing that hits my mind.

Static or Grounding Issues with budget priced cutters
dirtrocker replied to fustratedinhawaii's topic in General discussion
Ok, what cutter do you have? What software are you using? And what exactly is it doing? The more info, the more we can understand what could possibly be the problem. Take deep breath and maybe we can help figure it out, but we need good info. The more info we have, the clearer picture we can get as to what you are running into. And be prepared to have a lot of questions asked. As a heavy equipment mechanic, I specialize in troubleshooting, but it's a bit of a process to get the full picture sometimes. So, if you have patience, maybe we can help you sort it out. Now, if anyone can tell me why my phone doesn't post correctly? -
Static or Grounding Issues with budget priced cutters

Yeah, I had to ground my cutters. I was having troubles with them and was having all kinds of cutting problems. I tried everything. Different software, different knives, different vinyl and my son sat on the phone for an hour with the manufacturer and they ended up running a seperate ground. The instructions I used. All I did was add the slash on the end. http://proandhobbycutters.com/static-electricity-and-your-vinyl-cutter-the-ghost-in-your-machine/ -
Thanks! I was concerned about printing them up and getting busy and it being a month before I could get back to them. Especially during the winter, as that is my busiest time of the year at work.

I was able to see the video. I would never make it through doing something like that. I don't have enough patience for that sort of thing. LOL!

Problem is, most the guys I do work on their bikes are in their 50s. Old school, you know. Although, I can use the grandchildren angle. LOL!

Question about the poly mugs. How do your customers take to it? The reason I ask is some folks still prefer the ceramic mugs and I talked with some of the people I do bike work for and they said they would rather have ceramic.

Profiles. Yes, that's what I was looking for. That explains what I was looking for. Thanks.

Ashley from Cobra replied. She answered my questions and confirmed the 10% discount. Thanks mr300s, I appreciate it.

Thanks! I was confused by it. But was hoping that it would make sense when I got the printer.
-
Printer ordered. In a couple weeks when tax return comes in, I can order the CIS stuff from Cobra, if they ever reply to my email about what one I want/need. Then to order the cactus wraps, paper and mugs and stuff. Then the fun part. Seeing how many I screw up before I get it right. The boss (wife) says we'll start with the mugs, shot glasses and thermos and see how it goes. But she's been eyeing the t-shirt press, so I don't think I'll have to wait too long for that. And of course, I have to have a computer dedicated strictly to that, you know. I found out a long time ago, as long as she's let loose the purse strings, I buy what I can until she puts a stop to it. LOL!

I like the way you think. A picture of their bike on their own mug. Now that's some good thinking.
-
Blast it. Epson dropped their price to $109 for the WF-7510 on their ebay outlet. Really making it hard to put off getting it. Even the wife is thinking that it's hard to pass that up.

Mostly because the original poster was too lazy to start a new thread. My apologies if I offended.
-
Sweet. I asked them about it. Thanks!

Stupid phone double posted.

Mr300s, Does that include CIS systems? Someone named Ashley at Cobra is helping me. 10% off would be pretty nice.
-
I had no idea. So I guess that puts a big ol' L on my forehead. Guess I best get signed up for the email.

Agreed OW. The problem is, if you have trouble with something you purchased from ebay (overseas) sellers, how are you going to get it resolved? You going to ship it back to them? At who's cost, your's or their's? That is, if you can contact them. Sometimes, it's better to spend the extra money and get the support along with it and know there is someone you can contact when there is a problem. Especially when you are dropping a decent amount of money on it. For my money, it's sometimes worth the extra coin to buy from a vendor you know will resolve the problem and answer your questions. There are so many times I tried to save some money, only to have it come back and bite me. Sometimes, it pays. Other times, it costs you and when you are trying to make money, every loss hurts.

Yep, Washougal is just outside Portland/Vancouver area, about 110 miles from me.

I've done a lot of reading, checking sites and looking for the "best deal" and in the end, I am most likely going to go with Cobra. Why? As was stated, it is a pre-made kit. No modifying, no fabricating and no hassles. Plus, you are dealing with a company that has a pretty good track record in this "hobby"/industry. As a mechanic by trade, I hate buying modification parts and then having to fabricate things to fit. I've found over the years that quality companies will build things to fit right. Cheap companies sell you something that you have to do some fabrication and modifying to make it work. It's because they are lazy and make a "fits all" product and leave it to the consumer to make it work for their application. Just my opinion.

Came across this font site today. It may already be know, don't know. http://openfontlibrary.org/en

If you are going to make your own, I encourage you to watch some of the videos online about mods and making your own cabinet. Just putting a glass door on it will cause you all kinds of headaches. You'll want the film (replaceable) for the inside and frame it and gasket it, so you can replace the glass at a later date, because if you use it quite a bit, you WILL be replacing it. It would be wise to think ahead and set it up so that it is sealed well and replaceable. Also, being stainless, I would get "bulkhead fittings" to run the airline through the cabinet wall and rivet in plates over your vent holes. Inside and out. There are quite a few videos that show this. If you do not have the vent hole in the cabinet, you will blow the seals/gaskets out and the sandblasting dust will go everywhere. Remember that you are pushing a lot of air into the cabinet and even using a vacuum/reclaimer, you are building a lot of pressure in an enclosed area. Without a vent, you take the chance on pushing the sides out, pushing gaskets/seals out or creating a big mess. I have channel plates over my vent, with propylene filter sponge stuffed into the plates. Pull them out every once in a while, shake them out outside and put them back in. It helps keep the media dust from getting out. Hope that saves you some headaches.

The last thing I needed to do was view this thread. Now I want one. No idea what I would do with it. But I want one.
