Idea to help elderly, pay it forward

I thought about making matching numbers for the bottles, but my case as an example I usually put the lid back on after taking one out. If in doubt look at the directions on the bottle. 1 = 1 a day 2 = twice a day, 3 = 3 times aday N = at night/bedtime. I decided against labeling the bottles because of monthly Rx renewals. I just swap the caps. If you can't remember if you took them. (Guilty here a couple of times) I turn them over after taking one. Only did that twice when I got home late.. Side effects reminds me not to do that again. At any rate it's a simple way to help those managing thier meds when the take several multi times a day without using one of those multi pill boxes.
  2. It also might help if we knew what OS you are running. Total ram, using USB, Serial or Printer port. It could be a port conflict. Program conflict. Is this a dedicated PC just to cut with? Are these large files your cutting? Is your printer grounded? Lots of unknowns. Help us out.

    IE11 No quote box fix

OK.. You have the latest IE 11 installed on your PC. Now, when you go to a forum and you quote someone. The quote box is empty. It took me a while to figure this out along with several Internet searches. It never fails when Microsoft toots the latest and greatest, they never find all the bugs when releasing it. Here's what to do. OS Win7 START at the bottom left > Control Panel At control panel change view to large icons. Look for windows updates. Now search the update list for Internet Explorer 11. UNISTALL it. It will ask to reboot to take effect. Now click on the tools icon. Upper right corner (looks like a gear) and Click about. You are now running IE9 All is well again. Have a cup of Joe and cut something.. =kid

    IE11 No quote box fix

Well, i didn't know offering a solution to a forum shortcomming would turn into a software bashing. As I said when developer of this forum software implement fixes to work with IE11 just uninstall 11 which reverts back to nine. No need to install other software spying on you and installing unwanted add-ons. It's obvious some here despise IE. I have ran them all (browsers) at one point or another. My laptop is up to date enough that speed isn't an issue. Windows is here to stay. It's a users choice. Whatever your comfortable with.

    Needing Help.. Yet AGAIN!

It would also help if you posted the software your cutting with and your computer OS. There may be known issues that can be discussed. It looks nice.

Setting up at the flea market

Well the stick people idea was just that and idea. I'm sure you know what I mean by nitch. If your selling the same thing as the other guy then it becomes a price war. Your stick people in a dusty binder is why you don't sell many. A glass display with them would catch attention and having figures allready done where they could pick out there own custom look. With my little 14" cutter I bet I could do well selling them if the venture struck me. There are star wars, cowboy, animals. Many flavors to display on a few pieces of glass along with a banner. It's just an idea. No need to be negative because you don't sell them. One mans dusty cuts may be anothers treasure. If not stick people families it could be something else. My point was a "nitch" where someone would ask another at the market. "Where did you get that?" -kid

Need help with an old decal

I took a picture of a decal and cleaned it up in a paint program then vectored it. That's how those restoration guys on TV do it.

Setting up at the flea market

You need a nitch. If you go to the flea market and if it's any size at all there will probably be someone else there cutting vinyl. You need a theme. You need plenty of product of many varieties. Such as stick people. Easy to cut and highly customizable. A banner with large scale stick people banner for visibility. Catalog showing all the precuts you have or ones you can make. Time is money. The more precuts you sell per hour the better than cutting customs the whole day. Bussiness cards.if I had the time I'd have a small booth doing that. You get the idea. Pick a theme and go with it. Call it "Stick em up" -kid

Is there a post # requirement or a secret handshake to be ablew to quote in this forum? Simply hitting the "quote" button does nothing.

The newest version is much faster. As tooted. But website software developers have to catch up to show the advancements. If they lag behind, sure IE it's going to be crap slow. Firefox and Chrome are stripped versions of IE. Plus Chrome is collecting your every movement. All browsers have hidden agendas. That's why they are free. Does Silverlight work with both Chrome and Firefox?. I frequent a site that uses SL and other browsers I've tried it doesn't work. IE is the standard all copy and try to make better. There is too much Google on my system as it is. No Chrome here and my IE works fine till the software here is upgraded. I would just imagine if you where to visit the software designers of the forums platform. They are feverishly working on compatibility issues with IE11 since other browsers are a minority to IE's existance. Some of you keep your old XP machines so your cutter stays running. Windows 7 and 8 is backwards compatiable, if one knows how to set the window for that software to run in. Many don't understand MSWindows capability so they call it crap, or the software for the cutter is crap. Same with IE. You can turn off many problematic issues due to software designers dragging their feet. I'll stay with IE, but somehting I won't do is BASH someone elses software because someone offered a solution to a problem that's not Microsofts fault. Your milage may vary.

IE has both advantages and disadvantages. Since it is on my machine and the problem are not with IE but the software written for this forum. I uninstalled IE11 and went back to IE 9. There is problems with any browser depending on the site visiting. Your milage may vary.

Playing around with my new MH-365

In either case Texas or Tennessee both have a ORANGE ""T". The camera on the ipad is less than desirable. HAHAHAHAhahahaha. The wax paper has barely an impression. The T was cut first before I cut the brick pattern. So the scale of both graphics I knew would be off. Being able to weed such small lines was a good test for my blade depth. Coach Jones for the UT VOLS theme this year is "Brick by Brick". This inspired me to play around and see if I could come up with something for the back window of my truck. I need to get some brown vinyl to finish it. I'm going to arch the words Brick by Brick over the top of the bricks. The power T is a registered trademark and can't be used for profit without going thru SEC licensing. But I can make one for myself. -kid
  16. I was playing around with my cutter trying to get the blade depth set right and cut out this two color graphic. Since this is for my own use and for learning please do not reproduce. UT is picky about using there logo for money without liscence. -kid

    MH871 cutting every image twice

FYI. In SCAL3P once UNGROUPED the layers will show up in the right with an eye for each layer of the graphic. You don't have to delete the layer. Just click and close that layer to the cutter. If the graphic has more than one color this is very useful. It's irrevelant to the age of this discussion as long as solutions are offered which helped anyone starting out. I learn a lot just reading. I am very new to vinyl cutting but have picked up many good ideas from new and old threads.

Cutting position w/ craft robo pro

How smal a piece of vinyl you trying to cut. SCAL refers to the mat as the vinyl area. It has presets and also set as custom. changing the may size changes the mat on the screen. I don't use WYSIWYG. I use Origin Point. I have a MH cutter which you set pressure, speed and so forth as in most cutters. I have cut vinyl three inches wide and 12" long. I load it length wise and set the page H/W in SCAL Mind you. To diplay margins and registration marks the vinyl has to be large enough or the vinyl small enough. Don't forget to figure in the weed box too which has to be within margins. On mine like most others I take my small piece of vinyl and move the pinch rollers to secure the vinyl. I then take the cutter offline to set use the arrow keys to set the origin point where the cutter will start cutting. Once set. when you press cut in SCAL it should cut within the vinyl defined within SCAL. If not then you might have the wrong driver loaded for your cutter. Some of the older cutters only had serial and parallel ports. Check your manual for setup the ports. It's not difficult. Win7 will actually work with older software thru the compatibility functions in windows. When you have the vector file ready to cut you can preview which will show lines to be cut. The Cutter option brings up another page for additional settings. you can also cut by color. or cut all colors. This is helpful with multi colors. You must UNGROUP the object to see all the color layers. There over to the right you can click the eyes off and only print what's on the mat. Example. You have red and blue objects on the screen. you can turn one of them off. But if you leave both colors on, your cut will be both colors. I have some decals that have three colors and this option is extremely handy. I applied registration marks to show up on all layers. this way I cut each color and easily line them up when combining them. Post some pictures of your cutter would help about your rollers. -kid

    Looking for Star Wars family

What about Star Wars stick family. Anyone ever done that?
  21. The problems you've described is not unique to your machine. I had the same problem or similar. One of the US Cutter techs told me about the clear tape must be removed from the teflon strip. Your teflon strip comming loose just like mine. I took an Xacto knife and trimmed it in the corner which allowed it to adhere better. Also the cutting blade holder must be seated all the way down in the holder or the desired pressure will be different. snug it down but don't overtighten or you could break the holder on the stepper motor enclosure mounting point. Lastly. in one of the pictures I'm posting shows a nylon wheel that travels down a rail as the cutter traces the pattern. Last night I was looking the machine over and first. Noticed trash in the knife tip hole. If you press the blunt end of the blade holder it releases the blade similar to the way a dremel holds a drill bit with compression fingers around the knife shaft. Getting back to the nylon wheel that travels down the track as it cuts. I was pushing the stepper motor enclosure slowly back and forth down that track and at one point it felt like it was hitting something. That explained why I was not cutting cleanly. I took an LED flashlight and shined down the track and saw something there. I took my Xacto knife and cleaned out a sliver of something plastic. Once I removed that the cutter rolled smoothly back and forth with no resistance. I readjusted the blade and did some very nice test pieces and it weeded very easily. I hope this helps. I'm new here and new to vinyl cutting. I don't mind sharing what I've learned from my mistakes. BTW no where does it say to remove that clear plastic in the setup manual. Also tightly rolled stored vinyl can create problems causing the vinyl to catch as it progressed out of the machine due to curvature in the vinyl. Good luck. -kid =========================================================== Hi all ! i received my brand new Refine MH-365 cutter last week and... during all these days im made a lot of testsi can cut easy form like star circle box etc... and combination of it but when i arrive with bigger form like stencils the vinyl sheets lift and the cutting line arrive like 5 milimeters left or right side of the end point (depending of the patern) . i tried with 2 sizes of vinyl and on each test i adjust the force and blade (speed 4 inch <- its good !?) and the result is the same. Connection method LPT1 Software Signcut Operating system Windows XP Material ... vinyl On the side question - (i try to make stencils for painting (airbrush) what kind of vinyl you think is better ? ) thanks for your time Charles

    Vinyl on trash cans

Your probably looking for a mylar type of vinyl which is very thin. It has what looks like a metallic finish on the backside. Is the finish smooth? Besure to clean it well before applying.
