Wall Art - just me and my PCut =)

oh it's absolutely worth it. it looks great. just curious, do you apply with regular transfer tape, like you would to a banner, or? do you have to do anything special to the wall?

that is TOTALLY awesome! I love it, really! But...How the heck do you hang it? it's HUGE!
  4. hey Joey, Do you ever have any trouble with trademarked stuff? i'd have been scared to death to bring that Monster to a show....I noticed you do some reproductions...anyone ever say anything? just asking... Good work, btw! Kim

    Copyrighted?

    help, good question.
  6. HOOOOOOOOly crap. I just read all 13 pages of this, and wow. Really, i mean WOW. insane stuff. I wondered about copyright issues as i've already been approached to cut some yamaha stickers...but now? OH HELLLLLLLL no. well, from what i see, I can cut them and give them as a gift, but not sell for profit, huh? I was asked by a friend...but when someone asks them and then that someone is approached, No way to be sure they won't roll over on me. Scary! Poor Lara. wondered how it turned out for her? So, here is the question of the day. how do we know what is copyrighted and what is not? Example: i want to cut a "cowboy up" sticker...well? is someone going to come jump me in a dark alley? this is really scary stuff! i liked that a written disclaimer should be issued and signed....example: local gardening business wants me to letter their trailer. It's their business and their trailer. I letter it, with their decal, then later find out they're subsidiary's of a larger company and they jump me. How do you protect yourself? Kim
  7. Okay. I've been researching and researching. By all of this, I think I've officially a)overloaded myself with info, b)backed myself into a gridlock corner, c) read the same posts so many time and visited the same sites so many times i can't remember what i've read/seen, and, finally, d) nearly put my husband into a permanent slumber with my ranting....LOL! My husband has finally granted his approval to start a homebased sticker business. Banners, signs, etc. small at first...hopefully expanding? I'd like to be able to take it on the road: We often go to the dunes and races and things; love to be able to do some work out of the RV. Thing is, there isn't another in my town, so i want to make wise choices as far as equipment goes. Yep, mother of four, on a budget. I've got 500 bucks or so to play with (give or take). Need help selecting a cutter. Of course, I would LOVE a Graphtec, but i think i'm going to have to earn it. So...budget cutters. Any help/input would be greatly appreciated. What i'm really looking for from anyone is: what intro cutter can hang with a decent workload, and what software is recommended. I have windows 7. I see all the package deals on EBAY from both USC and SWhse, not sure if that's such a good way to go...i'm suspicious that these are the lowest intro models possible....would i be right? ;D It's all so overwhelming! ha Any help, like i said, would be awesome. Thanks guys, looking forward to any input. PS: For my husbands sake, please help me make a decision! ;D haha, just kidding!
  8. Hey Chase, Thank you so much for the advice. I hear you...even tho we have a 37' class A, we also have four rowdy kids (okay three rowdy kids, the youngest is only a month old LOL) and there is *&^% EVERYWHERE! I'm layin' down the law! Really, i'm just thinking of doing simple graphics, like "Got Sand" or whatever....stuff like that. We have a ton of Hare scrambles (District 37!) and desert races around here, in addition to tons of other recreation, like RC cars, Hunting, Fishing, Camping, hiking, kayaking, etc. I'm hoping. The motorhome is really just going to be a workspace when we're out and about. But i seriously need to get organized anyways, that advice never hurt anyone. Thanks for writing.

Hello...I've been drifting around, love this site. Looking forward to getting started in the vinyl cutting biz...already learned alot and got some really positive feedback in the General forum. Thank you, and nice to meet you all.
  10. Thank you all!! I'm leaning towards a *new* GCC expert 24. I'm trying to touch base with their support department to see how much it doesn't suck. Hopefully it doesn't suck alot. Heck, you can buy it now or best offer on EBAY, with a stand, their software corel and autocad plugins, shipped for something like 420, give or take a bit. not too shabby. Here's the best part: it comes with a 1 year warranty and then an additional 3 mos on top of that. But as one wise cutter suggested...make sure you can connect with their support department....Support spoken in chinese is no help. True, true. we'll see how it goes. Greenie, I'm probably going to go for the new cutter, so i'm not purchasing your ProCut...sorry, and i appreciate your time. You'll sell it soon, Just wait and see. I surely appreciate all of the help! If anyone out there has a GCC, let's compare notes. I hope it has that *new cutter smell* LOL

Greenie--just curious--where are you in NY? i have family in upstate and the bronx. I was actually born there but i've been in CA most of my life.
  13. Thanks, Hockeygirl--I just went to U-tube (was directed there from one of the ebay auctions) and it looks clean and easy to use. there are actually quite a few videos on this model. Again, Thank you for your input. This is totally affordable...seems like they offer good support, too. actually has a one year warranty; they sound confident, huh? there were reviews as well from people who were satisfied with the cutter. At this point, i think i'm down to a GCC Expert or a Creation Procut. 24". that oughta get me going...
  14. How about this deal? It's a Creation procut for in the neighborhood of 500. cutterpros. I actually found one from some website for 550 for free shipping. Greenmachine has one for sale in the classifiedes on this site for a fraction of the cost....very affordable--like WAY affordable, looks new! but no stand. Good starter? anyone thing so or not?
  15. Hey...thanks for the link tinaski...they won't ship. Grrr....not sure a 500 dollar cutter is worth a 3000 mile road trip (well....maybe..... On the look out for a reasonably priced cutter. keep me in mind, guys! i'm searching....

Wow, this group is so geographically diverse! AWESOME! Nice meeting you all!
  18. Oh, i'll take millions and millions, it's ALL good! Free advice rocks, thank you very much!! Custom invitations...how clever! You've been doing this awhile, huh? I'm going to check out the Refines....
  19. tlzimmerman, Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate your .02...you offered more like .05, though...LOL I have heard good things about the refines...and really, i've had my heart set on a COPAM. I'm always on the lookout for a used one...but not surprisingly, you don't see them. awhile back there was a refurbed one on this site and i kick myself for not jumping on it. Grrr.... anyways, i've downloaded the free version of signblazer...pretty easy to use. i'm also going to get the inkscape...got the tip to go get it. I appreciate your feedback concerning blades and vinyls....question: will these less expensive machines accomodate vinyl that is of a lasting thickness? What i mean is, if i'm looking for a 5-7 year vinyl, does the thickness of the vinyl matter? or is it all about the quality of it, as you've stated? Thank you!!! Kim
  20. Wow Mike, that's really cool. i'm already stoked with the feedback I've recieved. WAY better than venturing out on your own
  21. hahaha good thing...i felt so...sniff sniff...preyed upon! hahaha! yes, it does say NEWBIE under my name...LOL!! it's cool--but that's funny, don't care who you are! S-doggy, (you sent me that tip so we're on nickname basis now, LOL) I've actually been looking in the 30 to 36 range....that oughta do it, i think. I'd like to be able to do decently sized vehicle graphics for trailers/work trucks, etc....
  22. ROFL I've been HAD! LOL I'm thinking it's still available, ya think? LOL
  23. Tinaski--thank you so much, i appreciate your research, i shot them an email to see if it's still avail and shipping to ca. I do craigslist...but only on the west coast LOL! Perhaps i should expand my searches...you are a craigslist searchmaster, aren't you? (thank you!) Speedoggy, i will totally go play with these programs now. I am digging this site. Thank you for everyone's cents. Love this feedback....anyone else?
  24. Thank you Dakota, I've been watching ebay like a hawk. thing is: is that older software that they all come with going to be compatible with win 7? on the flip side, if i upgrade the software, will it be compatible with an older cutter? UGH! I ran into this site where it was (and i'm not kidding) a giant Seiki bash fest. not kidding. expletives, even! People were saying their cuts were jagged and the software was hard to use and not very agreeable. Needless to say, that definately steered me awayyyyy from those....kind of scary. If i had an extra 500 to pitch to the wind, i'd say, cool. But...i'm wary. I look to the masses on this site for wisdom.
