Question in bulk order of vinyl

I wish i could get supplies in 24-48 hours like you said before. Where i live only one "local supplier" delivers substrate in their own trucks. But they only deliver once a week. UsCutter delivers in 2 days which is great. Grimco will ship me a 4x8 sheet of Coroplast UPS for $160 + price of Coroplast. Grimco is 3.5 hours away. The "local supplier" is 2 hours away.
  2. Glad you got it working in Graphtec Studio. That should help others who only use Graphtec Studio. I will stick to illustrator and the Cutting Master Plugin.
  3. Yeah i agree with you. It might just be how it is. I would like to see someone on Windows try it just to make sure that its not a bug with the Mac version.
  4. lol i have no idea why its set up like that. I have only made one printed transfer with 3g opaque, so i am not going to be very helpful... Testing this was the 3rd time i have ever opened Graphtec Studio. I know it was pretty easy to print and cut from illustrator and contour cut from illustrator. It took me hours the first time, until i figured out i did not leave enough room at the top of the page to read registration marks. It needed like 3" if i remember right. djque are you using mac or windows? I am curious to know if it is happening on both, or just one...
  5. The same problem occurs on Graphtec Studio on Mac OSX 10.9.4 as well. I don't use Graphtec Studio but it is printing the cut line after i have unchecked the box on the configure cut job options window.
  6. Are you using Windows or Mac?

    Sign Substrate Options

I have not used this type of sign yet. My understanding is you can mount it to the posts and use aluminum u brackets on the corners, and center brackets on the brace above or below the sign. You should not have to use plywood behind the substrate. Maybe someone else will chime in who has more experience in this area.

    Sign Substrate Options

Use a brand of aluminum composite panel - Max-Metal or Aluma Cor, and a cast vinyl such as 751.

    weekend

I think that a camper is an excellent alternative to hotel rooms. Like you said you know exactly how clean it is. I worked at the largest hotel in the Carolina's - from cleaning rooms to inspecting them. My number one suggestion is to check and make sure your blanket is clean when you check in. They don't get changed as often as they should.

    Some new work....

Here are some of the things i have been working on. Just started sublimation and these are better results that i have had. I got rid of almost all the slight banding on my latest print. My main objective is to get rid of the "orange peel" texture when pressing. Hopefully a lower temperature and longer dwell time will help. The cup did not come out as well as i would have liked, i could have chose a lighter background and it would be much better, but it was still fun. I got to letter two trucks the other day, was pretty awesome feeling for a first paying job! It was a simple all text logo 4x36 in 751 black. I did end up redoing one door twice... but luckily i had already cut a few extras in case i needed them. The T-shirt did not come out as planned, the 3g Jet Opaque started curling a lot on the pre heated shirt. Hopefully the transfer film will solve this as well. I got some Stahls Premium Plus to mess around with in the next few days, looking forward to it. May order some easy weed as well, if i am disappointed with how the premium plus weeds. I have to say i was impressed with the colors of the 3g Jet Opaque, it was printed with epson 7520 and the stock DuraBrite inks. I did see a significant color shift after pressing the shirt but overall i was very happy with it! I am going to buy a cobra cis when funds allow it, hopefully it will perform as well as the stock inks with regular printing. I pressed the shirt on Sanmar PC61 100% cotton, i am thinking about trying the PC55 50/50 blend but am worried about dye migration when its pressed, would like to hear about others experiences on this as well. Oh and about a week ago i built a stand for my Fusion. I couldn't find a decent table anywhere local to put it on, and did not have one at the house. I think it came out pretty well.
  15. Thats funny, Did they ever come back?

    They broke into our shop...

I would invest in a monitored security system. My uncle had his 6 bay automotive and fabrication shop broken into many times over the years. Thousands of dollars of tools and equipment stolen multiple times. Since he bought an ADT system no one has broken into the actual building, only the cars stored in the lot...

That really sucks, glad all of your equipment is ok. I have been contemplating investing in a security system with monitoring... The only downside is the company will call you, and the police, but if you miss the call, and there is no one at the police department to answer, its pretty much useless. Thats how it is in our small town. The police department is always empty at night. I know this from family that works there. You can sometimes get a discount on you commercial insurance with a monitored security system. I doubt it would be enough to offset the $20-50 monthly monitoring fees. You could always cut some security system decals *cough* ADT *cough* for the scare factor and buy a camera and DVR setup. I would suggest hiding the recording unit well. Some criminals are dumb and some are smart and will destroy the evidence. Brands of The World should have something suitable if you decide to cut a decal.

    First Large Vehicle Project....

That sounds like a good plan Gcextreme. I remember from reading some of your posts before you had found some pretty affordable shops in your area. The lack of commercial retail spaces in my area has held me back. What is available is always extremely overpriced, very run down, or both. That's the pitfall of living in the touristy mountains of North Carolina.

    Simple Heat Transfer Vinyl

To clarify I was not saying the products were the same, I don't know that they are the same company. I have not done any research so it was probably useless to even throw that out there. I haven't used ezweed yet but I look forward to testing it. Pricing is pretty similar when comparing Ez weed to Stahls Premium Plus. Siser - $39.99 20"x5 yard roll. Stahls Premium Plus $38 20"x5 yard. I'm sure they are both great products.

    Simple Heat Transfer Vinyl

I have been using Premium Plus from Stahls, Stretchy, Soft with a nice matte finish. It has been an excellent product so far. All except for one roll that could have used more adhesive on the carrier.
