  1. never had any major issues with tearing vinyl on intricate detail and the edges of letters, I have had some tiny jags on some letters, but it was the font not the cutter, it cuts exactly whats there.. might examine your artwork really close.. especially if you converting a font to curves, I'm using corel 12 & signcut2, somtimes when convert fonts in corel they will have jags or burs on them.
  2. did you get your issues resoleved? gg

    Need The Big Check

my thoughts were you could use this as a template and customize it the way you wanted it to read, you should be able to cut this w/ a little tweaking (type in text and thicken the lines, adjust the colors etc.

    FDC Vinyl... Graphic Films Inc.

yes, I have used FDC it's okay, not my 1sr choice though, I prefer Oracal, it cuts and weeds good and it has a grid on the back that helps when triming orhand cutting straight lines.

    can't open in signcut

I experiened the same problem last week, a friend of mine who is a mac guru told me that the eps files photoshop creates are raster eps, not a true vector eps. and can't be cut, so I traced the image in inkscape, then cut someone else may have a way to export vector eps from photoshop..

    AIRBRUSH KITS

I have an airbrush, haven't used it in a while, you got me thinking, maybe it's time to dust it off and start using again. by the way what kind of paint do you use? I've used laquear on metal in the past but not on plastics or vinyl Great Job!

    what's wrong with this file?

it appears to be a bitmap, needs to be a vector to be able to cut..

Corel Draw X3 VS Corel Draw 12

I agree w/ Daniel, been using V12 since it came out, I downloaded a free trial of V13 when it came out, other than the trace features which are much improved and a few things in photo paint I didn't see the need to upgrade @ that time, soon as I can justify the $ I wll upgrade, many other things I NEED right now, up grade would be a luxury item... I have no complaints w/ V12.. other than the trace.. so like Daniel I use inkscape for traceing or draw manual in corel

    Corel Draw Version 12

I have V12 w/ trace and never use trace, doesn't make vector traces, or either I don't know what I'm doing.. V13 has good trace program, I use V12 for all my design and Inkscape for tracing until I can buy V13, V12 is great for design though... hope this helps and made sense..

    Cutting cloth

I had posted a response to your question under "general disscusion" wasn't sure if you saw it or not, anyway vinyl cutters will not cut cloth, best way to single ply cloth/fabric is the ole fashion way by hand sisscors or modern way electric siccors, as previous post said you can use cutter to cut out patterns, personally I would print pattern drom a reg. printer and cut by hand. hope this helps gg

    What is the difference

stichinlady, material... from being in the garment & textile industry in the past (78-95) your name and using the term "material" I assume your question is "can a cutter" cut fabric? from my past and current experience w/ cnc machines there isn't a cnc cutter on the market that will cut single ply fabric... however I don't know everything I didn't know until May 07 that you could by an affordable cutter, I I always thought you had to pay 3k Plus! (thanks U.S. Cutter for making affordable for hobbist) I was in the garment industry when cnc fabric cutters were 1st introduced (mid 70's by Gerber) and when i got out of fabrics in 95 I went into signs (metal, wood & vinyl) there wasn't a better way of cutting single fabric than by hand. if I missed your question please forgive me, if I may be of futher info on the ypes of material you wish to cut, please be specific and I will be glad to assist, I have experience w/ alot of "material" glad to help anyway I can, gg
  14. has anyone cut letters 12ft or longer w/out vinyl sliding out of the pinch rollers? have Copam 2500, when 1st got tried cutting 8 ft long letters from roll (scroll) and vinyl was siding, found better to cut off needed amount of vinyl then feed as a sheet been working fine. Now I have an order for 12" high letter x 12 ft long using 24" material, when test feeding can't keep it straight. its a 20" x 12'-6' blue vinyl bkgd w/ letters reverse weed to be white (prefinished white aluminum) for the recored I didn't design it this way.. I would have Painted panel blue and cut white letters so I could manage my cut length :-) any suggustions would be appreciated thanks gg

    Where do you design?

I use Corel 12 to design all artwork if I need to trace something I use inkscape then bring into Corel for final clean up. I ALWAYS view my artwork in wireframe to make sure no hidden pieces or broken lines, then use signcut 2 for cutting. a friend of mine uses illustrator, he makes me an ai for his designs, I import the .ai into Corel examine and then sent to sign cut for cutting, sounds like alot of steps but aleast I know my artwork is good b4 start cutting. hope this helps

    cutting directly from corel

I do the same, I have experienced gliches sometimes w/the eps that is created for S/C thru the "Rocket Launcher" in Corel. So I have started exporting my files as an .ai version 4 and have had no problems w/ th ai file, take a min. longer but the rusults have been worth it. if it's a small quick cut, I "launch the rocket"
  17. thanks CES, yes I've been doing mine the way you describe also and working well 8ft and below, this extra 4ft is dealing me a fit, I was going yo cut this for another sign shop, I found someone else to cut it, not worth the hassle, 12ft is alot of material to feed and keep straight. I know the wider models of the Copam have a middle roller, would be good if 24" model had one also, I think that would help
  18. Copam will cut any shape, I've cut numerous geometric shapes and uncountable abstract shapes, the key is good artwork,

    Nesting?

I use corel 12 to design and manually nest my parts, then send to signcut 2 to cut, I make my own weed lines w/ exacto or razor as I weed, I seem to have more control this way, this method works best for me.
  20. take the x & y #'s on the Copam display and multiply by .0397 this is the conversion from mm to inches hope this helps, work great for me gg

    Corel to Copam?

anyone know to configure driver to cut directly from Corel 12 to Copam 2500? read the post from corel to refine and downloaded driver from this site not sure how to get to work, links broken from previous post thanks gg
  22. maybe I've found the problem, it's a combo of weed lines & alignment of the vinyl, been cutting from a roll & feed ing from back side so when scroll measuring it only reads the the Y cords, after 5 cuts the vinyl shifts some & the weed lines maybe causing the problem. Since my graphic is going on a 18 x 24 coraplast blank I've precut my vinyl into 19" X 24 sheets, feed into from front and select measure sheet, and removed weed lines, cut 12 so for so good, seems to be worth the time to precut & feed ea. sheet, @ least I know up front if there is an alignment problem.. and as for as the Copam & sign cut2 , I can't complain, I'm impressed espcially for the price, and w/ the staff & members @ U.S. Cutter, thanks for all the support! oh yeah the trace feature in Inkscape is terrific compaired to Corel 12 and it's freeware! thanks again gg
