  1. This is the most precious onesie I will ever make.

    The Story goes like this;

My brother had a little baby girl 1.5 months ago and Sunday was the first family dinner we've had since her birth. For the last 3 weeks the whole family thinks I bought the funniest outfit for her and it was going to be a big surprise and everyone will think it's hilarious. Little did they know I had a BIG surprise for them.

I made this onesie for her and made the BIG announcement.  I'M GOING TO BE A DAD!!!!!  I can't believe it.  IMG_4611.thumb.JPG.74b72ff1441e165717ba7cad37e82eeb.JPG

This is my mom unwrapping the big surprise.

normally I will do ink one time - then rotate and get vinyl for printing and another time vinyl for cutting - all the stars aligned this week and I had to do all at once to keep by comfortable buffer amount on hand.  the big printer needed a round of ink at about $300 and a new office printer of course came with starter ink so that was another 140 -then add several rolls of vinyl (I almost always get the 50 yard rolls) for cut and  - for the  printing normally order several at a time.  so I save a lot on shipping on everything but the ink - since usc doesn't sell that anymore it has to come from another vendor.  at least now they have my 4075rla and 4076rla app tape :)

I'm wondering why you need both 4075 and 4076.

How are those affordable or guess profitable they are pricy individually and most people want something for nothing.

Easy - Don't waste your time with most people.  Go after the ones that will pay a premium for customized cups.

If someone wants 1 custom cup I can get $35-$40 for a $10 RTIC cup.

My biggest order was 100 cups and I still got $16 each for $11 in materials/cup  and 5 hours of work

I now have yellow lines in my work space and now when i double click on an item that has been converted to curves its not giving me the wireframe/node stuff..it just disappears.

It was working fine earlier and now its doing this weird stuff.

    Hey look another Newbie

How about an introduction before you start asking questions.   LOL   J/K

Glad to hear the shop is still moving forward.

  5. Unless you have previous experience I wouldn't take any orders for awhile if I was you.

It might look easy but you'll learn there's alot of different parts of this that require you to learn different techniques.   Designing, Cutting, Applying transfer tape, Positioning on the vehicle, Proper squeegee technique so you don't get bubbles.   Mess up on any part of it and you'll have to start all over again.

Try applying a 20"x20" graphics to a car hood and you'll quickly learn compound curves SUCK. Especially if you're not using the nicer more expensive vinyl.  Mess up on anything with the more expensive vinyl and it's money down the drain.

When you start working on customer orders you want to produce quality work or you'll quickly get a reputation for shady work.

Take your time, practice, and learn.

  6. Very first thing you said "I'm new"

Since you're new with very little if any experience with laying vinyl I would suggest you skip sign vinyl and get a good wrap vinyl with air release channels.   You're looking to apply a never large piece of vinyl and it's NOT easy if you don't have any experience. You'll get wrinkles and air bubbles, guaranteed.   With the wrap vinyl and some knifeless tape you have a fighting chance with the air release channels to get it looking decent.

It's alot more expensive but it'll come out looking alot better.

  8. First off I would check your measurement because 12" is pretty big on a shirt.   I normally stick to 10" on regular size shirts.   Try it out and see what you think.  .

    2nd

$12 for 1 shirt isn't bad at all.   I can get $15-20 for a one off shirt.  I do it all the time.  When they do decide to buy more you can decrease the price alittle but make sure it's known that you're not charging a design fee which is normally $30-60.  Show them a price with the design fee so they have a visual of what the cost would be with that.

Next check out your plastisol transfer options for larger orders.   F&M has a GREAT program were they charge you a design fee of $25 and they it's just $.15-.20 a transfer.   I'm doing a 100 shirt order and it's only costing my $70 for the transfers and whatever the cost of the shirts are.

With a 7 sec press I can do all 100 shirts and only have 2 hours time in it (Increasing design time).

Rough estimates are $70 for the transfer + $300 for the shirts + $120 2 hours of labor.

    And it's a $900 order.

You can't bet those numbers with HTV.

Nice work Go c. Wish I had more time to do some etching. Have not blasted anything since before Thanksgiving.

What the hell.    You were like my inspiration with all the cool stuff you did.

Get your butt back into the shop and get to work.

Looks awesome! For glass you can use cheap vinyl too and it will resist plenty good. I find that to be one of the good options to use the Green Star vinyl for. It's thick and resists good while still removing easily. 80 grit is plenty aggressive for glass too but will gradually break down if you are using it in a cabinet.

At 60psi I don't think regular vinyl would have worked.

Yes sorry forgot to state that as well as there was no mistakes and I got plenty of extra for if they want more or for other designs .. but .. what do you think about sizing ? I was nervous but just took advice and did a lot of googling to make sure I did it some what right ..

You're stressing way too much about sizing.

There's no standard.  It's what you feel is right and 99% of the time the customer will love it.

Simply use some common sense and you'll be fine.

Mt Dora.... I remember when I lived down there I made a special trip to go see the MOUNTAIN since I am from Idaho and was missing some vertical change in the landscape. What a let down as far a mountains go. HA ha! I was living in Winter Springs at the time. I imagine that whole area has blown up since I was down there in 1990

Yea I don't know where that got the idea to call the town Mt. Dora.

What do you do at the hospital? I teach nursing in Ocala and have visited the villages hospital for my student's clinicals.

I'm a biomed here.  I have to fix all the crap you nurses break.  LOL

  13. I can order wrap vinyl by the yard but it's more expensive that way.

With the amount you're going to need you might as well order a whole roll. It would come out pretty close.

Then you can always use the black on something else. Kids want just a hood or roof wrapped all the time.
