Software Question For Design Adobe Illistrator Or Correll Draw
Sue2 replied to Capt'n Morgan's topic in Pre-sale questions
It's hard to list specifics... I feel the node editing in Corel is easier. I like the trace in Corel. Also the font finder feature linked to What-the-font is very handy. Corel does not make links to outside graphics/photos... you just import or copy & paste onto your page and it is saved within the Corel file. I think AI handles colors better. I'm sure there are more points...but that is what I can think of at the moment. Sue2 -
can someone trace the derrick on this. i cant get it straight.

I always liked them tri-angels! -
This isn't a bad place to check your pricing...they don't have an app for wall graphics though. http://www.thesignexpert.com/Sign_Business_Free_Sign_Price_Calculators.html BUT you should take into account YOUR expenses and overhead.... figure your price and see how it compares to others in your area. Secret Shopper time! Sign & graphic prices 70 miles to our east (Washington DC) are quite a bit higher than here. Sue2

It was printed onto Jexar adhesive vinyl from Fellers and the UV laminate is Lamex. I believe they are each 3 mil. Sue2

I did it for my peace of mind...not so much for up-sale. I wanted to be able to assure customers the signs/magnets/decals/bumper stickers would last. I keep it inside now handy to show. Sue2

No, that's illegal. Sue2

I have an HP5500 and it too is aqueous...but uses UV inks. Don't know if those are available for the Z2100. I have printed coro & magnetic signs then over-laminated with UV laminate and they hold up very well outside with little fading. The attached photo shows a test I did several years ago... the sign was printed on vinyl, mounted on coro then laminated on the top half with the UV laminate and the bottom none. It was outside for 3 years facing full sun. Amazing. It was a good test. I used an off-brand adhesive vinyl from Fellers. Sue2

I have never needed anything bigger than my 24" machine could cut. Have a 42" wide format printer and have seldom needed the full width.... mostly use 36" substrates and print 2 up. As it is, the darn thing is huge! I can't imagine the real estate your 53" will take up. But my business is printing not signs. We mainly print forms, business cards, flyers etc...quick signs & decals are an add-on...no installs. What I can't do I sub-out or refer to reliable independent businesses. Your needs may be different. Sue2

I've always used an exacto...but I can see where the curved picker could come in handy on PIA small detailed stuff. Especially detailed HTV. May have to add one to another order just to see. Sue2
-
Do you adjust anything for cutting HTV? I haven't been and have had no problems to date. Using a 60 degree CC blade on a LaserPoint I with Sisser EW. Sue2

Welcome from the tip top of Virginia! 12 years? Things aren't that much different in cut vinyl... machines have gotten better, more selection in vinyls. Heat press stuff is amazing with foils, sparkles, prints & glow in the dark options. Oh, and the digital color print & cut machines for decals, prints and transfers are awesome....and pretty reasonably priced considering what they can do. Gotta have one! Let us know what equipment you are starting out with. Sue2

Can Anyone Do Some Rhinestoning For Me
Sue2 replied to Friedrich07's topic in T-Shirts and/ or Garments
I'll take mine with two eggs sunnyside & toast please... I see no problem with answering a request... support your community when possible. Sue2 -
As Dakota said, you don't need the latest & greatest version of CorelDraw or Illustrator.... for a very reasonable price you can use an older version. PLUS, look at how much more you can do with the whole graphics/vector program. Sue2

Have Dakota make them....and mark them up. Sounds like a digital color job rather than cut vinyl. Sue2

Anyone have an idea what this is OR something similar? TIA Sue2

Thank you all...the font has been manipulated some... but all I need is close so any of these will do. And if I get obsessed, I can mess around and make it match. Sue2
-
Thank you....that is close enough for this project. Sue2

Just recently Scarecrow provided all the US states in both eps & svg..... The search feature is your friend. http://forum.uscutter.com/index.php?/topic/45879-state-outlines/?hl=state Sue2

Thursday morning I came in and found a large plate glass window broken out and the cash drawer empty...except for the 6 rolls of pennies, nickels & dimes. The two rolls of quarters they took....go figure. We've been here for 34 years and don't have any security cameras or alarms installed. Over the years this is the second break-in. Believe me, there is nothing of value to steal in a print shop. At least they didn't trash any equipment. It cost way more to replace the plate glass window than the $$ they took. So, what to do now...what is your advice? Put up some fake cameras? Real motion sensors inside with LOUD alarm? Is there some wireless hook-up that could work? This isn't a big place (2500 sq/ft) and it is mostly all open with 7 huge plate glass windows facing the streetside. Sad times... Sue2

Same idea.... The Brother has a built in scanning unit whereas the Silhouette needs a camera to input the image of what is to be cut. Maybe the Brother unit would be a bit more consistant. but it is twice the cost. Now, I don't see why Graphtec/Roland/etc can't come up with something similar to the Silhouette app for their machines. Using the photo process to make an template for your cutout....most already have the registration recoginition software. Sue2

Really neat....lots of potential there. Sue2
