Although I still use my laserpoint occasionally I do not believe it is a very reliable cutter. It went through two mother boards before I ever got it to cut. And this was not due to user error. You are onr of the few lucky one's when it comes to the laserpoint. I would not recommend it to any of my aquaintances. Now, on the other hand, I would recommend the MH721 with Flexistarter 8.6v2 w/contour cutting. This is a true workhorse.

If you already have an inkjet printer, that will get you going. Just purchase some transfer peper (JPSS is best). I would recommend a WF1100 with a Cobra Ink System w/100ml ink bottles and pigment inks. www.cobraink.com The output from this setup is great. The cost of the entire system is affordable for just about anyone. This setup along with a Sunie 15X15 heat press will take you a long way. I hope everything works out for you in this undertaking.

check to be sure that everything is assigned the same color, even if it all looks black! The best way is to select all and assign the same color swatch to all selected

I am considering the purchase of a ce5000-40 vinyl cutter (CraftROBO Pro). I would like some feedback on this machine, good and/or bad. I will be using it for short run cutting of siser easy weed. Also some contour cutting of small decals. Thanks for any info you can give.

Check your "Flexi Production Manager" to be sure you have the proper driver setup, and the proper com port listed. You can find the right com port in "device manager" in Vista. Be sure the device com port listed in "Flexi Production Manager" is the same as that in Device Manager. Good luck. Also, once you have it set up properly use the same USB port always or the com port may change.

$100.00 on the USC site is the same as you would pay for it if included with the cutter, go for it.

Does anyone know how to determine whether it is the serial port connection on the cutter or the serial port connection on the PC that is going kaput? After much testing I am thinking it is the connection at the PC, but I am not sure. I am going to purchase a keyspan tomorrow and test with it. I think that should give me an answer, what are your thoughts on the issue? USB connection is not an option as that is another story altogether. The USC support team can help me deal with that issue. Hey, have a great week - The above issue has been resolved as far as the com port is concerned. The serial port on my PC is bad. Rather than replace it I bought a keyspan and using one of the USB ports on the computer everything seems to be working fine.

Contour cutting: Everything works fine until I get to the point of jogging the laser to the reg marks. It will not jog no matter what. I have tried from the keyboard and through the software. I have also tried different computers with the same result. It worked fine in the past, including after my tests when USC replaced the motherboard. Does anyone have any ideas? Tested on: XP and Vista usb and serial connections SBE 6.0.21
