yes there is a few things - i have posted this before but i will try to go into a little more detail compatibility issues - short answer is yes - but there are many things you can try to work around this use different software - there is inkscape very popular in this forum but there is a few problems with it. EPS files some work some dont i think its how eps files gets saved diffrent ver. of diffrent software it doesnt like -- kinda like word - you can save a word doc in a different version its still a *.doc but a newer doc cant be opened in older software unless it is saved to be opened in that version another one hasnt been noticed yet but i have posted a little about it ---- SK1 very good i haven't used the windows version but the linux version is very nice SK1 has plug ins that will allow you to open AI files and CDR files - very powerful software another thing is coral draw - can save files as HPGL raw you can save it like that then open it in inkscape. you will loose all color. HPGL is what is sent to your cutter. it will be a clean line drawing another thing if you open an EPS file in inkscape and you dont get an error but there is nothing on your page either try ---- click mouse button on the page (to select it ) then hit ctrl A at the same time - that will high light everything if you then see a box but nothing in it the there is something there but there is no fill and there is no stoke click on stroke and add it -- then it will appear hope this helps everything here that was posted can be dont in windows - i use linux there is more features that i prefer - but each to there own pic 1 is a file i just got and it opened like this pic 2 i selected all and then added stroke -- it was there but you cant see it pic 3 is a screen shot of SK1 o ya another thing that i want to add is instead of eps files - PDF and PS files can be cut too - so if your having problems with eps you can try to save or get a diffrent copy in pdf or ps

i can get one of these printers for about $500 - were very new to the printing world but it sounds like that is a deal can i get your opinion i see there is a few on ebay for about $1000 - and on web stores for up too $4000 will this do just about anything? print on banners and print on vinyl i wish i knew more about printers lol

we have 2 of them and love them - ther every stable we havent had a single problem with either of them - good luck

on the cut manager there is an option to send a test cut does that work? are you using corel draw 3 -- or corel draw X3 -- one will work the other isnt suported

you have to install the usb to serial driver and its a roland that you use - i cant remember what one right off hand

i have tried that - i have tried 3 diffrent ones but they all have problems with usb sharing between the home OS and the Guest OS - i guess if ya messed with it that would work but you would still get viruses in the windows -- most run a full windows install - now WINE doesnt run a windows OS it just fakes out the programs and it thinks windows is there - but it doesnt work on all programs depends on what windows dependencies its looking for and if its not there then it will not work

i'm not wanting this to get into a OS war and i'm not trying to say that one is better than the other. but we use Linux - and its not 100% immune to a virus but there is fewer viruses out there that will run in Linux so much fewer that I don't know a single Linux user that even runs a program to protect against viruses. we don't and haven't had a problem - one computer has has Linux on for a year now and always online with it - no viruses -- I saw some place a virus count for windows was about 400,000 and growing everyday and Linux is in the hundreds. there is allot of different reasons why Linux has almost no viruses - first thing is 1% of all PCs run Linux there is no market for viruses another is the way the OS manages its programs security but we do loose some also - programs we cant run flexi -SB or any of the other cutting software made for windows but there is a program that a guy made i have been trying to help out with - and it will cut from inkscape - corel draw - adobe - or any thing else that will make a *.ps or *.pdf - it doesnt need eps or svg file - and we like it better than flexi we can run AI 10 and coral 9 but that is the only ones that will work directly in Linux

i got a 15" if your interested it works great we upgraded to a 24" stayed with graphtec becouse we like them so much and it works great for us. send me a message if your interested

thats taking a chance dont you think spend that much money on a cutter that really doesnt have reviews. what if it a POS. you could be lucky and get a good thing but myself i would go with something that has been proven good

ya we got one that were selling that does sound about right largest cut 14.5 would be little more reasonable we used 15" vinyl works great
