  1. How many font do you guy recommend max per piece>

Fonts that do not go together tend to look unprofessional.  I generally use one font for all of the address, phone, etc..

and another to get my point accross.  Too many different style fonts just makes it hard to read.

Study ads in magazines, billboards, etc.  You'll get an idea of what works, and what doesn't.

Also, try variations of the same font if you need something a little different.  Bold, larger, smaller...  sometimes will make

a world of difference with the same font.

And remember some fonts are just plain easy to read.  They don't look fantsy, or blow you away, but they are easy to read.

Thats what you're shooting for.  To get your message read.

    later...

I agree 100% I've seen some really nice work get bogged down with someone getting font happy.

  2. Thanks everyone for the help and the kinds words about this one.

I will change up the address and the hours so they are not the same as this cafe's, lol. Then cut weed and stick.

The Kerning (spacing between the font letters) is the stock way typed, I did not mess with it, can you elaborate on which lines of text you are refering too? Thanks.

I just bought 81 coroplast 18"x24" signs, 50 White, 25 Black, and 6 Yellow and a case of the "H" Step Stakes, I was not liking the foam boards as much as I had hoped (too soft easily dented while applying the vinyl, won't last long tossing in my van to show potential customers)for demo signs, these coroplast will be much better. :D

My Oracal 44 Roll Vinyl Floor Rack got here yesterday and man is it SWEET! Thanks SIGNWarehouse.  :D

I put it together and got it all loaded up.

"HORIZON" needs to be tightened up. but thats my opinion,

  3. I like what you have done there, I would adjust the kerning a little (too much space between each letter, needs tightened up) but otherwise i like it. Good idea to have some sample signs on hand to show customers what you can do. also helps to develope good logo design skills as well as layout. Good work! keep it up.

  4. I ordered 3 Polo shirts from Jiffyshirts on MOnday and got them yesterday. I like the polo's alot and will be ordering more!!!

Anyone do embrodiery?? I may have some work for you. I need to have my LOGO yet to be designed put on some shirts. I can have them shipped directly to you then pay shipping from you to me.

Seeing that you are in the Louisville, Ky area. Have you ever tried Wolf Printables? I am in the Southeastern part of Ky and i buy from them. Also for embroidery, try Stitch Designer there in Louisville, there are probably more and the fact that you are in that area you might know of some better ones, if so please post them here.

    thanks,

  5. Its this type of work that i really enjoy seeing. Great job on the design, nice choice of fonts. looks like a flawless application on that window. I think its also good to point out to some on here wondering about the proper size of a window graphic, take this one as an example, perfectly sized to fit the window it is applied to. looking forward to seeing more of your work!

  6. What type of paint did you use?

I used a custom mixed oil based enamel, the customer gave me a paint chip and i took that to the local hardware store and had them mix me up some oil enamel. First i rolled on 2 coats of primer, then i rolled on 2 coats of base color with a foam roller.

  7. Did you use MDF? If so does that last long outside even with painting?

    Chuck

No, I used MDO Board. MDF is different, it wont last out doors. MDF is fiber board. MDO is a type of plywood that is used alot for sign making, but its not pressure treated. you have to seal the edges with a type of water proof compound. I use a wood putty made by Bondo they are the same company that makes auto body filler, it works real well to seal the edges with. MDO is just what i got used to using, I'm sure there are others out there that would work just as good, But I wouldn't recommend MDF for outdoor use.

  8. This is a project I did a while ago. This is a combination of paint, paint mask and hand lettering,as well as some vinyl. the substrate is 3/4 mdo board. I sealed the edges to make it last longer outdoors. The base paint is oil enamel that was custom mixed for the red color that the customer requested. The pictures dont show the final finished product as it was actually a two panel that faced two different ways.
