Not Sure about the contact paper, might be a difference in thicknes, and also this is a part of learning about the down force, blade depth adjustment, cut speed,these variables will be different on the contact paper than on regular sign vinyl.Might cause more confusion than you will be saving. Try pricing some cheap 15" X 10 yd rolls of regular vinyl, i have found that 15" is cheaper than 24". Look for closeout discontinued colors. Hope this helps. New Moon Graphics

I think Spyder Graphix is right, try doing stuff that is in your skill level at this point, trying to do the advanced work will only be frustrating to you right now. Take it slow at first,the rest will come. hang in there. New Moon Graphics

They have always been real good about gettin it out quick. I use them for certain things. I use a company called Wolfe Printables in Louisville, Ky for just about everything, shirts, caps, jackets, I even got some attache' case from them and had them embroidered. I think they keep some sign stuff too. New Moon Graphics

I have done them wet and dry. If i have a second set of hands and the graphics is pretty big, i do em dry. but if its just me i will do em wet, in case the wind blows it the wrong way and it sticks. so for me it depends on the job, but overall i prefer dry. Sounds like you needed to squeegee real good to get all that water out from UNDER the graphic then spray the app tape down and wait a few minutes to let it soak, then gently pull the tape off slowly laying it back onto itself. You have to measure the windows and see what size would look the best, by that i mean if you were driving down the street is it readable? also does the customer want the entire view obstructed? There are many things to consider, I would talk with them and try to get a feel for what they are looking for on this project. In the last 5 years in the sign business i have done many window/store fronts and everybody is different. As far as pricing the job, I always charge extra if i am doing the art work, if it is customer supplied time to vectorize it. Add in supplies with a markup some say 60% plus hourly for the install plus any misc supplies you might need for this project. I would say any decal that is hillbilly themed or Ky related would go over pretty good. I too am a Kentuckian and i wonder if something related to the 2010 Equestrian Games that is being held in Lexington, Ky would be worthy of looking into? Just a thought. New Moon Graphics

Hello everyone, Just wanted to say hi, and that i have been enjoying the forum for a couple days now and have really learned alot, especially about the Signblazer program that came with the new plotter ( i have always used Flexi).I recently added a new plotter to the business from US Cutter. I have been in the sign business for about five years and have pretty much learned everything i know by trial and error. i look forward to viewing more posts and maybe sharing what little i know. I think proper squeege techinique and removal of tape is very important. push those bubbles out as you squeegee, then remove the tape by laying it all the way back onto itself, this will aid in its removal. New Moon Graphics

I usually keep 12" rolls of app tape and it works for about everything i do New Moon Graphics

There is probably a instructional video on here on this subject. I try to make sure my work surface is nice and flat, then using the hinge method i squeegee behind my graphic pushing the air out as i lay the graphic down onto the banner. this almost completely eliminates air bubbles. I almost never use the wet method anymore. the more you do the more comfortable you will get doing it dry. New Moon Graphics

I would just redraw the graphic in whatever program you are gonna cut it in. it seems to be fairly simple shapes. Never worry about asking questions. I am away from "My" computer or i would draw an example for you. when i get to my computer i will. New Moon Graphics

I usually keep the local school colors, which are red & black for the county high school and orange & white for the City high school. this will pretty much cover those and about any thing else i might do. I would kinda have in mind who i was gonna try and sell to, then stock those colors first this will get you started. New Moon Graphics

I think i got it figured out, it seems you was right sarconastic, except instead of cut tile window go to the Jog window, then click on the tile maximum button and it will show the max size of the graphic that you are gonna cut, then click on tile home and it will go back to the original position and is ready to cut. thanks for all the help. it got me on the right track to solve this newbie issue. I am new here and really new to Signblazer and i have question. I have always used Flexi, and in Flexi i could go to the cut screen and click on a button that said "show Me" and it would run the length of the graphic and width. this allowed me to ensure that the vinyl was aligned correctly and wasn't going to run off to one side or anything before it actually cut. is there a feature like this in Signblazer?
