Need some help on this quote
DirtyD0g replied to Aaron636r's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
When I am in doubt I just make about 5 and time what it takes to do them and count labor time at $60 per hour, add actual material costs then double it for markup. Off the top of my head I would have said about $1.25 each for that kind of quanity. $2 each for 100. The more you do the faster it will go per piece. Alan -
I am wanting to put "The Lone Ranger" on the side of a customers truck. I have searched a bit and haven't found anything that will work. Anybody know of a similar font that would pass? Alan
-
That is what my buddy requested. We will strip it down to the white, red and yellow if we cannot find another way to clear it up. Alan
-
black, blue, brown, white, red and yellow. The brown will be the hardest part.

That is the one. I've been trying to edit it with the bitmap editor on Flexi and I just can't make it work. The wife is working with it in Corel and I think we are just going to have to settle for the lettering only. I either need to get it down to the 6 basic colors to cut it on vinyl or get the image sharpened up enough to print it. I'd prefer vinyl because I can do it larger tha way, our printer can only go 13x19. I think these will need to be closer to 15x24 or something like that. I appreciate the help, we are still a little wet behind the ears on all this. Doing mostly letters and numbers right now. Alan

The one I have has a blue background with rope around it and a mask under the ranger. Alan

If you drive a subaru STI, I apologize.....

Building things in canada makes sense to some extent. Why would I say that? Because Canada has the worlds largest reserve of metals in general. When it comes to metal they have it all. Iron,Aluminum,Nickel,copper,silver,gold.....85% of what the world has of these metals came from Canada. Alan -

Somebody make me a calvin peeing on a china man taking a dump.. Pee on chinese crap. We worry about the japanese cars..bah there is far worse. The KIA/Hyundai crap hits a nerve with me. Alan -
I ran my seiki on serial with better results than usb. The problem is most good motherboards(pc) don't have serial ports anymore you have to add them in. The cheaper motherboards seem to have it still. Alan
-
You are correct, there software only works with their cutter. I did manage to rip the output drivers out of the seiki version for use in a better version. I ran my seiki last night on different flexi to test it. Alan

I used Flexi before and it had a "show me" button to move the area to make sure everything was clear and fit. I'm sure this program has it, but where? Alan

I don't see the difference between start and pro. I used pro on a friends pc and it was all the same. Alan

Tired of my Paper Weight
DirtyD0g replied to TMPP's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
I had similar issues with mine, nothing seemed to work. I was trying to use a seiki version of flexistarter. I called and Brandon remotely connected to my PC. Then he installed signblazer for me and actually cut on my machine. All I had to do was turn everything on and type in the serial number. He was 3/4 of the way done before he even found out I had just purchased the machine from them. Alan -
I ripped the driver out of my seiki flexi and installed it into a better version. If anyone needs the driver give me somewhere to send it and I will gladly send it. Alan

I had one specific roll of thermoflex that gave me serious troubles. It was a metallic green color. All the other colors I had went well. I find the siser is much easier to peel, I have ruined a few because the back wouldn't peel on the thermoflex. Alan

I guess you are the lucky ohne or it has somethign to do with your model. On a google search I learned I was far from the only one having the motherboard failure problem. Mine is a SK870T I did get a replacement part for it after 2 weeks of arguing warranty and then ending up paying for it. I got most of the money back from them, but now am afraid to count on this machine. Alan

Anyone know anything about Flexi Sign Pro Version 8.1?
DirtyD0g replied to prettybird's topic in Flexi
My Flexistarter (8.1) has a softkey dongle. Alan -
I have a MH and a seiki. Both are within the last 6 months. The seiki marred the vinyl much more than the MH. My MH has serial, usb and printer port connections. The Seiki (sk870T) has serial and usb connections. When possible I prefer to use the serial connection, but good motherboards with the option are rare. I burned up a motherboard on my seiki and now I fear using it very often. I fixed it and it is now a backup in case something happens when big job is sold. Unless you buy an expensive machine I suggest keeping a spare. Noise volume I would say is about the same between the machines. The MH is easier to get the material lined up on. THe MH also will tease when setting origin, the Seiki moves a little too fast. Alan

The huge glitch I have found in signblazer is the lack of a "show me" button. The software seems good for reworking images but lacks an important feature to me.I did call Seiki, in an accent I could barely understand I was told it wouldn't work. Wonder if I can wipe the key clean and use it for the most expensive flash drive ever. Alan
-
This sieki crap is proprietory. It only works with their software and their software only works with their equipment. I bought a better cutter and tried to use it on their software after several motherboard failures on the SK870T. I called them about it and they say it won't work either. All I have learned about Seiki is BUY SOMETHING ELSE. Sorry to be so blunt but my seiki purchase was a waste of money. Alan
-
Yes that is what I wanted to see. Looks liek I'm buying a new copy of flexi Alan

ANyone know where to find this font or seen one close enough. I hear it is hard to get. I want to put The Lone Ranger on the side of a customers race truck and cannot find the font. Thanks Alan

Well I called and Talked to Brandon. He was very very helpful. He had me log in and he actually got in my computer remotely and installed what I needed. The version of Flexi I had was their special version that only works on their machine. Needless to say the software doesn't outlast the machine, because it will only work on their machine. Brandon installed Sign Blazer for me. The bad news is I(mostly my wife actually) have to learn different software. She is having difficulties with it, but I'm sure we'll figure it out soon. She said she thinks it is better software and chooses to learn it as well. Thanks Brandon, I haven't actually used the machine I bought yet, but I am sure we will be pleased. Alan

for some reason I still am not seeing this driver in my list when I try to install my new plotter. I have flexistarter that came with a seikitech machine. The directions say to install into C:/programfiles/sai/output drivers. My computer doesn't have that option. I installed it into C:/programsfiles/seiki/outputdrivers thinking this would correct it. Any suggestions? Thanks Alan

Just wanted to say hi. Mostly I am just reading what others have already asked. I know very little about this stuff ,but got tired of my unreliable source for myself and have tried to send plenty of work to that source and it always ended up making me look bad because he would never give them any estimates or anything. I am wanting my wife to learn this stuff because I find many of the customers I deal with are very interested in vinyl lettering. Any suggestions on software that doesn't cost a fortune would be great. I currently have the following software. inkscape, photoshop 7.0 and flexistarter 8.6. my machine is a seiki SR-870T.I just purchased them both through US cutter. I would also like to make a bunch of T-shirts for my company if anyone has any good advice on how to do this. i currently don't have a heat press, but may order one in the near future if i find anough ustomers interested in them to at least make my money back quickly. Good sources for free basic images would be great as well. Thanks Alan
