  1. You can also use it as a plotter to plot CAD designs, or other designs. Paint mask stencils, sandblast stencils for etching (like mentioned above). Mostly cuts different types of vinyl though. Vinyl for clothing, vinyl for vehicles, storefronts, banners, sandwich boards, etc. Even vinyl for indoor use on walls and such.
  2. I doubt anyone is making, or going to make, a stand alone driver for the Refine series.
  3. Ack! Brandon was out of line saying anything bad about ANY co-worker, let alone Levi. I had the pleasure of working next to Levi, and he honestly was good at what he did, and he cared about helping. He was always eager to learn many of the quirks these Chinese import cutters can throw at you. With all of the different cutting programs available, different computer hardware configurations, different operating systems, etc., it is a wonder the Copam works as well as it already does with many of them. If Brandon has more knowledge and experience in the field, and he can pipe you more sunshine than Levi because of this, it still does not give him the right to down talk a counterpart. Bad bad bad. Any of us could talk someones ear off all day about crap they did not know, and sound as intelligent as hell. Does not mean everyone else around us is shitty..... Glad to hear you went with the GraphTec. That is a brand you can count on. You will not be disappointed.

    Which Sandwich Board????

A blank white corrugated panel should work fine. If you want something more durable- maybe opt for heavier plastic, or wood.

I need some Vinyl Express Help

Contact SignWarehouse technical support, and they should let you know if it is possible, and if so, how to do it. They are the ones that re-brand that unit.

    Creation CT630

Probably will not be able to configure it to cut directly from CorelDraw. You could use a separate cutting program, like SignCut, to do the cutting, and CorelDraw has a built-in SignCut launcher once your cut is ready to be sent. SignBlazer is both a design and cutting program, all-in-one, and also works well. But, if you are already really good with Corel, then I would opt for SignCut so you do not need to learn a new design software. Do not recommend ArtCut at all.....garbage.
  8. If the cutter screen is going blank, something is shorting it out. Tip the unit on its side, then remove the bottom panel to expose the motherboard. Make sure the pegs that hold it in place have not broken. They have been known to break during shipment. If that motherboard is not seated properly with the pegs, then it could be touching the metal panel causing the short.
  9. Can you manually set the PCI card to LPT1, then change the port in the software to LPT1? Also, make sure there are no printers installed that are no longer in use, that may be causing a conflict with the LPT port.
  10. New I/O board should fix the issue, and they are pretty simple to replace.
  11. Best thing to do is line it up as straight as possible, and then manually feed out the amount of vinyl you are going to cut to see if it tracks straight before the actual cut. If it drifts, then make an adjustment and try again, until it is feeding as straight as can be. Then cut.

Responded to your other thread for help with this.

    memory maybe?

USB connection I assume? Do you have the option of connecting that cutter to the computer with the 9-pin Serial instead? You could also make sure there are no unnecessary extra nodes in the design and disable any weed borders to lighten up the file the software is sending to the cutter.
  14. Well sweet! The window and your cutter are saved!! Glad to hear it is working as it should now.
  15. Yea, just trying to defend the techs a little bit, because I have worn their shoes. I am sure they did what they could, but at this point, with how long it has taken, I would be leaning towards requesting an exchange, especially if 'the man' implied the shipping would be covered. Not sure why they each would claim to know more than the next- no answer to that.
  16. Ahhh! Great news for the guy finally! Although, the man did say they would "likely" pay for the return shipping. "Like" they may, or may not. Either way, that is way too long to be dead in the water. Hope they get him squared away soon.
  17. If all 3 of the techs you named cannot get it to work correctly by logging in to your computer, AND Ruth from GCC, well then all I can see is big red flags that scream 'Lemon'. If it comes down to exchanging the unit, you will be absolutely tickled with the return policy! Do not take it out on the techs though....they did not make the policy, they simply follow it. Feel bad for your situation, and the time it has taken- WOW! Hold on for an even bumpier ride with exchanging. Hopefully you will not have to. Good luck!
  18. You could submit a support ticket with USCutter and pray they respond soon. Or, some people have had better results using the Keyspan Serial to USB adapter with a laptop, if the cutter has a 9-pin serial connection. It really sounds like a configuration issue with the software to me though. Have you tried un-installing and re-installing the program yet?
  19. Sounds like you should be ok then. I assume you have selected the correct cutter in SignBlazer setup? Do you have the option of trying the 9-pin Serial connection?
  20. Have you changed any of the configuration settings in SignBlazer? That would be my first guess. You could un-install the program, then re-install and start fresh at default.
  21. No- your laptop will recognize that something is plugged in to it when you plug in the USB cable, and it will assign a COM port # to that connection automatically. If using the 9-pin Serial connection, it will not be assigned a COM port # automatically, but it is usually COM 1 or COM 2. You will still need SignBlazer, or another cutting program, to cut something though. Good luck!

    MH871 problem!!!

Tip the cutter on its side, and open the bottom of the unit. Make sure the mainboard is not laying loose in the bottom, which could be shorting it out.
