It starts at the very right position of the cutter. You have the Refine series cutter I assume? -
Newbie Help PLEASEEEE!
kenimes replied to maverick5754's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Discussion
For smaller lettering and designs, I would suggest lowering the cut speed. Also make sure the carriage is on its tracks, sometimes during shipping the carriage comes off of its tracks. Keep me posted, and if you want to setup a call for InkScape importing help, you can email me at kenimes@uscutter.com -
kenimes@uscutter.com Email me directly so we can setup a time to wlak through this on the phone

I would suggest saving your Corel file in .eps format, then importing to SignCut for cutting.
-
Are you referring to the blade origin or the offset for your cuts?
-
hotrod- are you running the latest version of SignCut ver 2.16?

Newbie Walk thru Help Please
kenimes replied to freebird1963's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
You can manually set the origin (place to start) on the cutter by pressing the offline button so the light comes on, then using the arrow keys to set the blade where you want it to start on the material, then press the origin key. -
I would suggest saving your Corel files in .eps format and cutting them out through SignCut

Make sure that the carriage is on its tracks, sometimes during shipping it will come off the tracks and still go through the cutting motions, but cause eratic cutting.

Sounds like it was not saved correctly. SignCut is still seeing the file in a format other than .eps or .ai -

LCD setup questions
kenimes replied to freebird1963's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Yes the cutter always defaults to 9600- so you should leave SignCut at 9600. I have never had to change it to cut. -

installing blade and holder.
kenimes replied to freebird1963's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
Yes, you should not need to change any of the settings......leave them at the default. Refine MH/EH 721 is the correct cutter that should be selected. Read cutter has always been greyed out for me as well. The baud rate default when you turn on the cutter is 9600, so I would leave the baud in SignCut at 9600. -
For you laptop, try downloading the latest USB driver from our web site. It is located under Downloads, then Refine Downloads, and is the very top selection. It is self-extracting and you simply need to run it. Then plug in the USB cable to the laptop with the cutter turned on. Found new hardware should pop up, and then your hardware is installed and ready to use. Go to your device manager and look under the ports category- find which COM port the USB installed to- then simply tell SignCut which one it is and you should be in business. Ken

installing blade and holder.
kenimes replied to freebird1963's topic in USCutter Refine Cutting Plotter Support Requests
It looks like you have got it right. You use the back position when you are not cutting all the way through your material, and the front position when you need to cut all the way through material. You use the silver and gold metal screws on the blade holer to adjust the blade depth. It should only be sticking out enough to cut through your vinyl and not through the backing. Load it up to the lip on the blade holder. Looking at the pics, it seems you got it properly loaded. -

Yes, the memory can be upgraded. -
The MH721 is a good starter cutter. The software does take some getting used to, but it is worth it. It does not come with clipart, but there are several web sites you can get clipart from. There are several users that frequent the forums that help out whenever they can.
