Obviously, there is material cost ( I got that part down thanks to a calculator someone posted on here), labor cost, overhead (which I suppose you could tie into labor cost) and if applicable, installation cost. All I'm looking for here is what is one charging for their work? Obviously pricing will vary based on your area, but I'm curious as I'm beginning to get busier and busier I want to ensure my pricing is about what a "norm" would be.
I'm considering charging about $5 to $10 per hour for my time (including overhead) from start to finish. I recently did 54 total pieces of a two layer decal. Between the weeding, and assembly, this took me close to 5 hours total. Being this is a friend of mine, I charged him a little over material cost. This got me thinking, as I'm spending this time, I'm not doing any of my other jobs I have lined up. Really got me thinking (and reading the forum here) about getting ALL my costs in order.
I will be putting together an Excel spread sheet sometime soon to help with costing jobs, so I can quote that much quicker, but wanted some feedback from those who have done this a lot longer than I. This will be my 2nd summer with the cutter, and intend to get out there a bit more. I'm still a ways off from much larger jobs where I need to worry about installation so I'm not so concerned with that yet.
Thanks in advance for your help everyone.
A job at McDonald's would pay you more. $50.00 and up for your time.

96x32=3072/144 = 21.33 x $5foot = $106.66 (not $1280).
I never have done square inch/foot pricing just by the job and install

And 751 is cast and longer life span too instead of 651
Or rapid tac 2 with 651

I would be around 50.00 each

black on yellow is the most readable

I have never felt the need to beat my competition out just on prices alone. Sometimes I am considerably cheaper than them sometimes we are pretty close and they might even have an edge here and there but overall my clients are loyal because they like the service they get.
I never compete i give a price that i make money on.... most times i get the job sometimes i dont

As much as possible + 10% lol
I use mostly 751 or other high performance vinyl except for short term signage and signs, banners auto signage and back lighted signage
-
Yep especially with flat faces on lighted signs lexan blows out acrylic cracks.
I mostly use panfaces for strenth and looks both but sometimes end up with flat because of economics.
I have flyers also with the cards.

I am in far western Va., (the other tip.) When you get to Roanoke, keep driving west 4 hours.Do you live near the tri point area in Lee county ?
We only got about half a foot or so. The middle school wrestling couch, some of the wrestler's and a man or two from local churches were going door to door with an ATV and some shovels, shoveling sidewalks. They refused all monetary offers. Pretty nice to get your walk shoveled.

Scott we now have 21 great grand babies, 23 grand babies and 8 kids our latest born on Thanksgiving but each one is a blessing . if all of them ever showed up for a holiday at one time we would need to rent a convention center. after almost a half a century with my wife and all the kids, grand kids and great grand kids I wouldn't change one thing.

it will probably be ok I have reversed the flat faces also. the back painted starts with a clear face that they apply stencil and do the graphics, then the background color and finished with white all are translucent. the look and quality are worth the cost in my opinion.
-
I would be around 600.00 with high performance vinyl.
-
I order my replacement faces and lighted signs with back painted faces they last and look so much better and professional looking. I almost never use old faces the time it takes to clean them out weighs the savings. like was said any seams will show on lighted signs
-
why not back paint
when importing .jpg to SignBlazer I get .."contains bitmap..." and won't cut.
