cuts erratic all of the sudden

Saturday my SignBlazer and pcut freaked out for the first time after 6 weeks of trouble free cutting. All of a sudden it would cut to a non-existent node, crossing over several already cut letters. The only thing different this time was a long 49" x .6" rectangle used as an underline. It cost me 8' of 15" 651 and at least a hour of time. I'm beginning to see the disadvantage of China hardware and "free" software. I checked my settings and I already had it set to Direct. One thing that is screwy, SBE couldn't find the help file after this problem popped up.
  2. Hi Guys I guess I'm looking for advise/secrets on how to adjust my monitor so colors match (at least closely) to the vinyl I want to work with. I have a PCUT 630 and I'm using the SignBlazer program that comes with it. I have set the color bar to Oracal 651 but until I receive my color chart I won't even know if it close to right. And here is a BIG newbie hint, order a color chart immediately after buying your cutter. My first two projects were in black so that was a no brainer, but now I'm waiting for the chart so I can figure out which blue goes well on a silver truck... Thanks, Dadeeo
  3. my pcut does that if I tighten the blade holder screw all the way tight, it sticks though too far and rubs the coil housing...
  4. One of the biggest "wishes" I have is that my PCUT would be useful for plotting line drawings. I have had no luck in getting output from my CAD program to the PCUT though. Today I found the PLTDraw program on the CD but it has no drawing tools and seems to be only able to cut imported files, however it won't open PLT files only PL1, whatever that is. Importing dxf files directly into Sign Blazer doesn't work as it drops too many lines. Is anyone using PLTDraw or have any solutions for plotting CAD drawings? Thanks, Terry
  5. Wow, my PCUT is just the opposite, my clamp closes completely. It came with two thin washers on the screw even. The blade holder on my PCUT measures 11.4 mm and I had to wrap a few turns of scotch tape around a Sharpie to get the clamp to tighten on it. If anything my screw is too long as I can actually tighten it where it will stick though enough to rub on the servo housing and not travel up and down. Do all of you guys with the problem have Lazerpoints? I though all of these USCUTTER cutters used Roland style blade holders... Terry
  6. I tried to convert a bitmap but I'm doing something wrong, if I save the traced file as a eps file it doesn't open in Sign Blazer using either full postscript interpreter or postscript scanner. If I save it as a svg file Sign Blazer doesn't see it, which makes sense as svg isn't a listed file type. What file type should I save as in Inkscape so that it imports into SB? Thanks for all the help. Terry
  7. The reason I would like to try it is the SB program drawing tools are very primitive. I find trying to contour trace jpg files a pain in the butt, and the vectorizing tool in SB really isn't even worth the bother. Stooooooooooop the post... New Post!!!!!!!!!!! I was having a terrible time trying to vectorize images, the results weren't even close. I just discovered that by default the "setup" box in the vectorize menu was not set to anything. The grayed out drop down which means "not available" in standard MS Windows programs caused me to think nothing was available, but I just clicked on "Logos/Art - General" in fustration(which is the only option btw), and now the results are better. I guess that is one of the problems using a orphaned program like Sign Blazer. The Help file speaks of several options to use and the ability to click on Setup to customize the options, but I have only one option and the Setup feature doesn't work at all. I'm left wondering if perhaps a "supported" program might not be so frustrating to use and that's why I'm disappointed in not getting Flexi in the auction I got my cutter from.
  8. It comes with the cutter... http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-24-25-Vinyl-Cutter-Cutting-Plotter-w-Flexi-Starter_W0QQitemZ300293259248QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item300293259248&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
  9. Mmmmm, just took a look at the eBay ads and I notice the 24" PCUT from USCUTTER comes with FlexiStarter 8.5. Since I bought mine a month ago and didn't get the FlexiStarter 8.5, I'm feeling a little miffed, where are the fairness police when you need them... ;D

    eps file won't open?

Yep, same here, someone uploaded a silhouette eps file and it won't open in SB. Maybe it was a joke....

    Looking for a State Seal

Wow Jay, that is a great resource. Thanks!
  12. Hi, I'm a newbie too and I had the same problem pop up even after I had made several cuts. Make SURE that the port is set for "Blazer.COM3: -Serial Port". You will find it by clicking on File, then Cutter, which will bring you to the cutting screen. Click on the "Setup" button and you will see the Cutter Setup window, the second menu box down is the port SB uses, it should say Blazer.COM3: - USB Serial Port, if not click on the little down arrow and find the correct port. Click "OK". If that isn't your problem re-post and someone will take you further. Terry

    Air Bubbles

I am doing a back lit double sided 4' x 8' outdoor sign and the standard lettering parts I've done are just fine but there is one line 12" x 82" that is reversed, meaning I weeded out the lettering and left the tile. As it was one piece and long, I did a top hinge and dry. That left tons of bubbles. I've read the other posts in the forum but no one seemed to be doing a reverse style application do I'm hoping you guys can tell me the best way to apply this line to minimize bubbles, wet, dry, or best way to hinge. This is an existing sign and I'm recycling the 4x8 sheets of white acrylic so basically it's just a re lettering job for the new occupants. Thanks, Terry church 1.SBD church 1.SBD
