Oracal 631 not sticking please help

Having a similar issue with my 631 but just for my BLACK roll. Using the Aplitape HT55 designed for 631 too. All of my other 631 vinyl colors lift just fine but this black 631 seems to have a more aggressive adhesive. Even the black vinyl itself is harder to weed than the other 631 colors...it is adhered stronger to the wax paper. It is an older roll now but I bought a lot of the black as it's used often and even when new it was difficult to work with than the others.
  2. Just the inconvenience of it does suck. I'm setting up my 871 right now - cross your fingers she's OK. NEVER, NEVER NEVER turn down the work. Find a way to get it out. Call local sign shops and/or see if anyone on the forum can help you out. Your margins obviously will not be as high but you will not loose customers and more importantly repeat biz. Most shops will be willing to negotiate a resellers price for you - that's how I've operated my design/sign biz for the past 4 years. Even if you give it away at your cost its still worth it in the long run. Word of mouth goes a long way.

    Grounding?

just received my MH 871 on Friday. There was a laser copy of instructions included on how to and the need to ground the chassis to the stand and that a ground wire should be included. I'm guessing that started including this document after reading this thread. However, no ground wire was included. I'll definately be grounding it since it is on a rug and I zap myself daily without even working with vinyl.

    First Wall Quote

Good Stuff! Nicely done. Since the 631 vinyl is low tac what are using for application tape. I've done vinyl on just about every substrate BUT walls... Wondering about how well the vinyl adheres to the wall during installation and how easily the tape removes without lifting the vinyl. I'm sure heat would help too.

HELLO Just purchased my machine today

What application tape should be used for "wall words" with the 631 vinyl?

    Hello!

The decal's bond is stronger to the release paper than the tape is to the decal. Apply adequate pressure with the squeegie ("burnisher") over the application tape on the vinyl graphic. It needs some pressure but you really shouldn't have to put all your weight into it...if thats the case then the application tape may be the issue.

    Hello!

You could have a low tac adhesive masking tape but also make sure you burnish the graphic well before attempting to remove the vinyl with the masking tape. I'm not familar with the signcut software you are using but here's one thing you can try. Rather than plotting just one jeep sticker multiple times, modify your file so that you have multiple copies of jeep logo. Add just enough of them side by side in your file so that it will use the most of the width of vinyl you're using.

Noobie from MA - Hello, Hi, Greetings, Bonjour!

Central Mass. I won the MH-871 (34"). Arrived yesterday but she's still sitting in the box. It's been in the teens and below since Wed and the shipment was left on my front steps for a few hours. I'm not going to boot her up until it's been inside for awhile to warm up.

Noobie from MA - Hello, Hi, Greetings, Bonjour!

Finaly one an ebay auction for a cutter. Let the fun begin.
  10. Hi All - New guy here from MA. I worked in the large format graphics business for 3 years (4yrs ago). I have had much experience with cutters (Roland), plotters (Mimaki & HP), dysublimation, lamination, mounting, installations, graphic design, yada yada. I've been out of the biz for a few years now but have always had the itch to jump back in and the easiest and most cost effective way to do that is with your very own cutter - so here I am. I worked for a small family run company and though we did fairly well (for NO advertising/marketing what so ever) I noted many areas of opportunity left untouched. Very excited to get going and from the little I've read so far in this forum it looks like this is the place to be. Working on a biz plan now and I am planning to purchase a USCutter in the next week or so.
