Hi Everyone, We finally got our sc24 cutter setup and have started to cut a few design. I quickly realized I need to mirror image a few things I was working on but can't seem to find the mirror image button in the Sure Cuts A lot Pro software. I am pretty sure I read that it can be done, but for the life of me, I can't find it. Anyone? Also,is there a simple way to separate the layers in a design? I understand how to separate and how to layer once the colors are cut, but to separate each tiny par and line it up to cut and layer it is so tedious. Surely there is a more simple way. Anyone? Thanks for the help. Have a wonderful day. Micke

Well, we are neighbors. I've been to Columbia a few times. You might not recognize Spring Lake now. It has grown so much, especially since we're getting so many different divisions at Bragg now. They are even closing off Bragg Blvd to local traffic. They're rerouting folks around the long way to get to Spring Lake from Sante Fe Dr. It's such a mess. Thanks again for the help. I did find the flip in the top after you told me where to look on the side It's under transform. I just didn't look as much a I thought I had. Mickie

Thanks so much Jay. I was looking at everything up in the top tool bar. What part of SC are you in? We're South of Fayetteville, NC, not far from the state line. Now if I can figure out the layering stuff I'll be good to go for a while. Have a great night. Mickie

    Trying to understand these programs

I loaded the trial last night. Then this morning I pulled up several eps files and saved as svg. files. Then I opened the scalp program imported the files one at a time and they were there. I don't know how long the trial lasts so I am going to change all my files while I can. Eventually I may have to buy the program. I can't see paying the $30 a month for it. (there is a link that comes up during the download for the $30.00 but under it is the continue trial button so I hit that and kept going.) Hopefully I can make some bucks with this before I have to buy it. I have time to do all this computer stuff while I wait for our machine to arrive. We had to return our 1st machine. We had some problems getting the computer to recognize it. Support spent a whole afternoon with me on the phone trying all kinds of things. So hopefully if FedEx delivers on MLK Day we'll have our new machine tomorrow. I have been stocking up on items to make samples with from our 1st cuts, so I am excited to get this rolling. I want to thank everyone who has tried to help me with issues. I have to go back an watch a few videos to refresh my memory on layers, etc. I'll be back to see what else I can learn later. Have a great day! Mickie

    EPS SOFTWARE

Thank you all. I remembered the eps was vectored after I wrote that, but some of these files have what looks like a sheet of paper icon beside the file in the folder. When I try to import it into Scalp it doesn't show up so, I don't know what to do to it so it will open. I have loaded several files from the forums that were posted and some of them come up the same way, blank in the preview and the mat on the computer. Slice and Dice, I tried loading the irfanview earlier today and got lost with all the plugins and such. I'll go back and try again. I thought I had read about a program that would allow the files to be viewed and converting as well but now I forget where it was and the name. Guess I am having one of those brain**** days. lol Dakota, I had read a good bit of that. Thanks

    EPS SOFTWARE

What software do I need to open and work with eps files so they will open in SCALP? I am not even sure what I need to do to the files. I'm thinking they have to be vectorized but... Can someone help me? Mickie

    another noob

YOU SAID "I did not once that there was a straight line cut through both designs I made one was at the top and one at the bottom. Can someone point me to the place in the forum to bring an issue like this up? Thanks." Here's what I found under the help button in Surecutsalot. The Trial Version will run exactly as the Full Licensed Version, except that when it cuts with the cutting machine, it will add a DEMO watermark by cutting horizontal lines through your design. The Full Licensed Version will not cut any DEMO watermark cuts. You will need to purchase a license at http://www.craftedge.com/purchase. Please see the Activate License Version section for information on activating the Full Licensed Version. Hoep that helps!

    Hello from another newbie

Hello everyone. My name is Mickie and I am new to this site and cutting vinyl. Well, I do have a small cricut but I haven't used it much at all so I am starting from scratch. I have been reading as much as possible before my machince, SC series comes. It arrived today and I have loaded the software. I'm looking at buying a few designs to do some gift items, things to sell at craft shows and maybe do a few decals for cornhole boards. We make and sell the gamebags and just thought this would be a good thing to add. We have done craft shows for years with all kinds of craft items. So consider this a warning, lol, I'll probably be here asking tons of questions when I start trying to make my own designs and cutting designs. I look forward to learning loads from you all. Happy New Year!!!

    Hello from another newbie

Hmm, Good to know. I thought that would have to be heated or something. It's always good to not have to add more steps to complete a project. I always have the plate holders (easels) with us at shows. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to get my machine out of the box and setup. Thanks again and have a great weekend.

    Hello from another newbie

Ok, here's my next question. I see cups, glasses, tiles, and plates decorated with vinyl. Are these treated someway to make them washable and foodsafe but still decorated? I know about sandblasting and etching but not sure how the vinyl stays on the glass without some sort of a binder (for lack of a better word).

    Hello from another newbie

LOL, I know that song very well, just not the name of the artist. I guess I have dated myself, but that's ok too. The worst incident for me was after an introduction to a new eye Dr., He actually sang that song to me while I was in the exam chair. What a wacko he was, lol. Slice&Dice, I went back and reviewed the roller link you posted again so I will know what to watch for now. Thanks again for the heads up on that. Great, I really didn't want to buy and learn another software. Thanks again.

    Hello from another newbie

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Slice&Dice, Thanks for the advice, I am not sure what your telling me since the machine is still in the box, but I'll bet I find out soon enough. Rodger, You have my curiosity going. Who is Tony Basil? I am famiiar with songs from wayback, but that name isn't one I remember, nor do I know what song you are refering to. Ok, so here's a question I probably should have asked before I ordered this machine. Do I need illustrator, corel draw, or any other software to work with the Surecuts alot pro that came with my machine? I have been playing with some designs I downloaded from the Sure cuts alot website and other sites. Some things worked well, others didn't even show in the preview box so that tells me they aren't completed designs. I did go to the free Illustrator site but couldn't get the download to work. Of course free is a good price but... Thanks for all suggestions and advice in advance.
