    Application Tape

Believe me, I listen to all feedback from people who take the time to reply. I just don't see anybody posting to mislead people. As much as I respect the manufacturers specs I prefer real world experience from people doing the work. Looking at the spec sheets from Oracal they recommend HT55 for both 631 & 651 so I think I'll start there. Will it be hard to do layered graphics since the app tape is not clear? I'm assuming if I plan on buying 24" wide vinyl I would want to buy 30" wide app tape to make applying the tape easier? I assume buying 24" app tape would add a layer of complexity to a newbie like myself? Thanks everyone for their input.

    Application Tape

Any other opinions? As soon as I am comfortable with which application tape to use with Oracal 631 & 651 I'm placing my order!

    Application Tape

I have this exact question and am just about to place my first order. Any other opinions? I was thinking of ordering ORATAPE HT55 but I like the idea of clear tape for layering. The price is close enough between the two to not be a factor so it comes down to performance. I should add that I too plan on using Oracal 631 & 651. Thanks.

So from your experience it's not worth the extra $$ for the SC? I'm fine with paying more for a better unit but if it's not really better I would be happy to put the savings towards supplies.

Why do you wish you would have gone back with the MH? I am buying my cutter this weekend and decided on the SC but would love to hear feedback from someone who has used both.

Need advice, looking to buy my 1st cutter

I can't offer an opinion on the Laserpoint as I have yet to order anything but I'll tell you that for the 34" SC, which I plan on buying, it's only $30 more to buy a new one with the stand than to buy a refurbished and a stand (which is designed for the 24" so you cannot use the rollers). Doesn't seem worth saving $30 for the hassle with the stand. I think the refurbs used to be cheaper but went up within the last week or two.
  8. I was on the fence as well so thank you for the detailed review. I'm set on getting the SC. Now I just need to get my end of year bonus, should be any day now, then I can order!!

    App Tape stand/roller

Nice and simple design as well as easy to get the parts for. Do you have issues with static from the PVC pipe?

Need advice, looking to buy my 1st cutter

Any chance someone who has this collection could post the .pdf that shows all the images on the disc? I'm interested in the disc but want to be sure it has the type of graphics I'm looking for. I've got a tight budget right now and want to ensure I'm spending my money on the right items.
  12. Hello all. I've been lurking on this site for a bit now and am close to being ready to order a cutter. I was originally set on buying a Silhouette Cameo, partially due to the cost, partially due to the ease of use. My main plan is to cut stencils for painting ammo cans and making window stickers. I don't anticipate needing more than a 12" but you never know what the future holds. Looking at the refurbished cutters for sale here there are three other units in my price range: 25" USCutter LaserPoint II Vinyl Cutter 25" USCutter SC Series Vinyl Cutter 34" USCutter MH Series I do like the idea of a wider cut range as the vinyl I have read that is best for a paint mask starts at a 15" width so I'd have to find another solution if I bought the Cameo. The other reason I was attracted to the Cameo is that my wife and daughter would like to use the cutter to do crafts, can you do craft style work on the USCutter machines? Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks, Steve

Choosing my first vinyl cutter, help needed

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will go for something other than a Cameo to give me more options, I just need to see if I can buy a stand separate as all the refurbished units are without stands.

Choosing my first vinyl cutter, help needed

Thanks for all the replies, I can see how a stand would be helpful. Am I correct in assuming that all three of the US Cutter machines can cut the same material as the Cameo so my wife and daughter can also use it for scrap booking and crafts?
