  1. I am happy that today has turned around for you! Good luck selling the equipment, and hopefully it pays enough to purchase supplies for your art and talent.

    First large storefront....

    Great work.
  4. Rob, Working with family will be the hardest thing you do. I think that selling all your equipment and art would be a huge mistake also. I used to work for a big retail company here in the Northwest; I was a site supervisor during remodels. I used to buy all of the old food service equipment that I could during the remodels, haul it off to my house, and resell it to wholesalers. I would make good money, but not enough to live on. If I were in your shoes, I would partner with my brother, but he and you need to be the owners of the company, not the workers. You could go out, bid and inspect equipment when needed, but hire a couple of guys to pick it up, haul it off and clean it up. This way it gives you more time to keep working on what you love to do! Just my two cents. Muttley

    FINALLY some stuff to show

Mutt...Yea I do have "project" around the house. My idea is to get enough stuff done, display it nicely and then have a "LAUNCH PARTY" for all my friends to come over and place some orders. Kinda like Candle lite parties or tupper wear parties only this would be a Vinyl Party. If you have any ideas to share to get a great turn out by all means, share them :P Thanks so much for the kind words and confidence. Hat....here is Adobe 9 for you. Dazzel The best advice is lots and lots of pictures. Then you can display your work in endless other areas, (on line, websites, photo album, crafting expos, Sunday markets, etc.) If there was more time, I would be doing all of the above mentioned things, but since I have a full time plus job in a completely different line of work, time is not on my side. Keep up the good work!

    SuperBowl Halftime Show

It was just as bad as last years'. I think they are holding back because of the "Janet wardrobe issue".

Nice job. Looks like you have all kinds of your own work around the house.

    Easy question (I hope)

Glad you got it worked out. I thought I was the only one who used words like "combobulated"!?
  10. I got $464.00 per trailer. Sounds like a good bid at $442.00. You should be able to work on more than one at a time and complete the job a little quicker.

    Quick price quote

Simple design, and looks like the art work is done for you, unless you did the work. I would say $10 for one. $15 for two. Should be real quick to cut/prep.

    small layered decals

Looks great! How big are they?
  13. Decal = $36.00-$38.00 Simple text/one color and first time customer = $6-$8 discount. Install = $20.00-$25.00 No cheaper on install, it's going to take at least half hour, (getting to mall, prep, install, clean up, talking with owner, etc.) Total = $56.00-$63.00 minus any "new customer discount" Don't sell your self (your time) short. Every time you think it is any easy job, it sneaks up and bites you in the a$$.

    Trailer 20'x8'

    $1,075.00 total bill - $30.00 in vinyl (maybe?) - $20.00 in misc. supplies (maybe again?) - $100.00 in tools (guess-timate?) - $270.00 labor (2 guys / 3 hours?) = $625.00 profit (= happy installer) + $140.00 tip (= really happy installer!) = Future business (= really really happy installer!!! ) Great work!

    Fathead vinyl

Hey Uncle, Go check these guys out.... http://www.phototexgroup.com/ I don't remember how I found them, but they sent me a free roll of media. I believe this media is very similar to, or a direct copy of the Fathead vinyl. So far so good, I think it will be a good choice for temporary wall art, especially for kid

    What printer do you use?

I just responded with the following in another post. I've got an Epson 1400, and so far so good. I am using the standard ink so far, I'm unsure if I will switch inks or not at this time. I would like an ink with some sort of UV protectant in it. I did also purchase a C.I.S. for the printer, but I am thinking about just using the refillable cartridges. I have not printed a t-shirt transfer yet, only because I do not have a press, but that will be changing soon. I have printed to some PhotoTex vinyl (adhesive film? It's kind of like the Fathead media), and it looks good. Time will tell on the ink holding up, though I am only testing inside right now. I have printed various documents to photos, and can say that right out of the box it printed photos very well. I went with the Epson 1400 because of the quality and price. I am sure that there are much better printers in the world, but not at my budget. I wanted an all-in-one printer with my selection, and so far I am happy.
