    Cutting Fabric With Copam 2500

Thank you Mike. Those sound like a couple of good ideas. Have you used either idea to cut fabric. If so, what pressure did you use and did you extend your blad a bit? Bonnie
  3. It might seem trivial to some of you but very important to me. I have been trying to cut fabric. I have used Iron on backing with no other carrier sheet, also WITH the paper sheet from backing material, Added pressure, lengthened blade a bit, etc. I finally had pretty good luck by using Stencil vinyl for backing. I would like to know exactly how you are cutting your twill or other fabric. I didn't really want to buy the fabric with the adhesive already on, because of the expense of it. I have the fabric and the Thermo Adhesive from Stahls. I don't know if that is the best thing to use or not. I also don't know if I have my settings right. If any of you do much fabric cutting I would LOVE your input. All help is appreciated. Thanks, Bonnie
  4. Hi Edge, Just out of curiosity...did you get your laserlight problem fixed? I know it has been way over a year but I was just wondering if you had the same problem that I did. That problem being that the brown wire connector that the white ribbon cable plugs into was not making good contact. It was hard to see in the beginning because I didn't know what I was looking for but when the light went completely out It was more easily spotted. I got a new laser light assembly but that didn't fix the problem so I put some pressure on the brown connector and then it worked. Mine wasn't soldered into place and that allowed it to move and misconnect. (is "misconnect" a word?) anyway, I have been toying with the idea of soldering it down myself so that I don't have this problem in the future. What do you think? If you did something else to fix your problem, I would appreciate it if you would tell me what it was. If you did not get your problem solved, maybe this will help you. I know it is soooo annoying to buy something only to have it be a disappointment. I hope you can reply. Thank you Bonnie Kansas City, MO
  5. Thank you Paco! I really appreciate that information! I'll look forward to your pics! Fortunately I have a brother who is a Computer engineer and is who I would have do the soldering. I wouldn't have even considered it if you hadn't given these instructions. Thank you again Paco! Bonnie Williams Kansas City, MO 816-941-2344 Embroidery Art Service
  6. Mine is working fine right now but I can see potential problems with the laser connection. The brown piece that the white ribbon cable plugs into is loose and very touchy. I think the piece should be soldered into place. Mine is not but I was wondering if I could do that myself. Has anyone tried it and if so, did it work out ok? The laser is the only problem I have had with my cutter and although I did get a new one, that wasn't the problem, it was the connection. I'm looking for a way to make the connection more secure. Any ideas would be helpful for many of us who are having problems with the light. Thanks Bonnie

    Laser light out

O.K. I recieved my new Laser light assembly (knife holder arm) today and I installed it and had the same problem. No laser light. Sooooo....I put on my REALLY big magnifying glasses and could see that the brown plug, that the white ribbon cable plugs into, was not making good connection. I simply applied some presure and tried to make sure that the little wires were all touching where they were supposed to. Turned on the cutter and Wallah....I had laser again. Being a bit of a hardhead, I just had to check the original Knife Holder Arm, so I took the new one off and replaced the original one and Wallah.....I had laser light. So, now I have an extra which probably isn't a bad idea. This is something I haven't seen on this board so, has anyone else ever had this happen? The brown plug that the white ribbon cable plugs into comes loose from it's place. It is very touchy and fragile. It looks like it should have been soldered inplace but mine is not. How about if I soldered it myself? Anyone tried that? It is so loose that I expect to have problems in the future and am trying to be ready for it. I have learned so much from this group. Thanks to all. Bonnie B

    Laser light out

Thank you Kevin and Thank you CRD. I'll be on the phone with them tomorrow. I better not try the "Rewire" thing but if it were older I'd give it a try. Bonnie
  9. I know it's been discussed before but can't find information now. I have just had this cutter since September and now I have no light. Any answers for that? Can I buy just the light? Is there a problem with the little ribbon cable going to it and if so, can I replace it or what? I am so spoiled to having that little light, I'm lost without it. Bonnie Williams Kansas City, MO

    Ken Update

Oh Ken.....This is a great group but we need you and are so happy that you are on the mend. I hope you give yourself enough time. The only thing we have of real value is our HEALTH. As you can see, we are all thinking about you. Bonnie
  11. Mine is very tight too. For a while I didn't even get it screwed together. It seemed to hold the blade holder fine without being tightened down but I discovered that somehow the blade kept getting longer with every cutting and I was cotinuously resetting the blade depth. I finally took the blade holder out, adjusted the blade then I got out my channel locks (big pliers), placed the blade holder in place then instead of trying to push the thumb screw together with my hands, I clamped the area together with the pliers and held it together while I got the screw started. That's how tight it was. I am now hearing that it might get easier as time goes on. I hope so. Not that I change the blade that much but I do switch over to the pen holder from time to time. I have had my Laserpoint 24 for about 4 months and I mostly love it. Bonnie Corel Draw X3 - Signcut X2 - SignBlazer
