Yea I was a bit surprised also. Ps. Please include a shipping estimate for delivery from your area to Columbia, MO as well. -
Need to subcontract banner job out...
sprocketbox posted a topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I have someone requesting an estimate for a banner that is too large for my shop to handle. I figure someone out here might be able to use the work. PM me your estimate for a single banner with the following specs. 8 ft. Tall x 10 ft. Wide banner on White 13oz vinyl. 10 letter message all on one line horizontally in RED outdoor vinyl hemmed and grommetted I just need the estimate for one, but client has mentioned desire to buy multiple. If this sub-contract works out, I will definitely come back to your for future sub work when needed. Thanks. -
I'm looking to actually buy the thing, does anyone know when it comes out? signwarehouse only shows the 2008 version still.

need a little advice
sprocketbox replied to Nikki's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Are you mailing it to him? If so I would just go buy tubes from a staples or post office and ship them that way (sucks to pay retail but its all you can do right now). I wouldn't put a rubber band around the decal for fear of leaving an impression on the vinyl. And yes, roll with the decal facing out so it won't get messed up. If you are just giving it to him in person I would just roll it up and maybe transport it to him in an old vinyl roll box. There are no dumb questions -
That looks great! Kudos!

Ahh guess I should have specified, I'm talking about a backlit sign for a customer to hang in their store. I don't quite have the verbage down!

I'm looking to find a supplier of light boxes for a project and after searching the forum I haven't found a decent supplier. I know Fellers has LCD boxes, but I'm looking for standard backlight boxes. Does anyone have any experiences with any of these retailers? Better Ideas? http://www.blueriverdigital.com/lightboxes/rigidlyte-econo/ http://www.signsbyweb.com/metal_light_box_signs.html I plan on using Translucent Oracal for whichever backing comes with the sign.

those are very cool!

If you are using signblazer you should just be able to create this within the program. Use the text tool to type your letters in a scripty font. Then use the circle tool to create two circles, one inside of the other. Combine the two circles by using Arrange > Combine Objects and it should punch out the middle circle leaving you the border I *think* you are looking for. Then just move the text within the circle and cut. Hope this helps!

Listing prices online?
sprocketbox replied to sprocketbox's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Thanks all for the input, I was starting to lean toward a hybrid listing, sort of along the "starting at $39.99" etc. and have them call if they want more than just basic stuff. Mostly I am aiming towards my local market where I can do installs on site and meet with the people paying me. I don't want to be a faceless shadow business. -
As I'm learning more from you all, I also find myself expanding my business. Now I have a website running (spillover skill from my day job) but am curious about posting my prices online. I have been researching the other shops in my area and all of them do not list prices online. Some of these are the big companies like fast signs etc, but some are also little guys like myself. I wanted to know what the community here thought about listing prices online for customers (and competition) to find. Do the pros outweigh the cons? Thanks, Grant

Is your heat press on a dedicated circuit?
sprocketbox replied to knucklehead's topic in Clamshell Heat Press Discussion or Support
Along this vein I am considering getting a Sunie heat press and was wondering if it would do okay in my office, plugged directly into the wall. After looking at the house plans I believe the room I am in is on a 15 amp breaker. The information on the heat press is here: http://sunie.com/store/sunie_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3440 If I buy this and try it out, I'm not going to set my dog on fire am I? Thanks
