Awesome! Tell us about where you get and how much the proflags are? Did you run into any problems? Looks like you could almost use a big laminator for something like that.

I think its a great starter press and at a fair price. I haven't actual used the presto line myself, but the heating element is a hix so I'm sure that it will last well. The Presto line is a bit less expensive because of the simpler mechanism, but that isn't always a bad thing. I'm sure it will pay for itself in no time.
Now you just need to get yourself some good heat press vinyl and show us what you can do.

Pretty sure its an older model made by Stahls and looks like a 15x15. Actually a pretty solid press that probably sold for around $500-$600 new. I'd guess its worth at least $250-$350.

Thanks guys, that is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. Really appreciate the help.

Maybe you are mirroring or not mirroring when you need to. Its confusing when you are printing and then cutting sometimes.

I'm trying to decide what would be a fair price for 100 safety orange youth shirts. They will have a small print of 3 lines on the front left chest and a picture of some sort on the back, all in black ink.
Also, do you guys have some standard breakdown on pricing.
For example: maybe standard sales price on a colored shirt is $5 for qty. 25+ and then printing is $1 for a left chest or $2 per location for a full print and then and additional $1 per color.
Thanks for the help.

I do almost all 100% cotton. Haven't had any problems with layering on Gildan 2000.

If you like those, you might want to check out the collection on myvinyldesigner.com. Its really got a lot more options.

You can pick up a full version on ebay for about $100, but watch closely and you can get the real full version and not just the academic.

Solid press to get you started. It will pay for itself and buy your next press. Need to get yourself some good EZ Off iron cleaner to clean that upper platen up good and probably a teflon sheet.
-
I just want to say that it was on fire when I got here.
-
I use the cleaner while its hot according to instructions. I don't remember the heat setting, but its pretty hot and I've actually used in the 300 degree range before. Really smells great and leaves a nice shiny clean press.

There is a hole on the back of the cutter that is a sensor to see if there is media or not. When you get the error, the vinyl is probably not laying flat on top of the hole because of the vinyl not feeding properly. Occasionally this will happen to me, but its usually just something up with the vinyl bunching up when the cutter feeds the vinyl backwards causing the vinyl to raise up in the back. I just smooth the vinyl flat and hit enter and the cutter will go back to cutting.

If you are getting bubbling vinyl, then you must be way too hot. The Celsius problem seems likely. I've done Thermoflex pretty hot before when I forgot to adjust down after doing some sublimation and it still worked fine, but didn't bubble. I'm a freak about always using a teflon sheet. Even when I need a matte finish or do JPSS with parchment paper, I cover all of that with a Teflon sheet just to be sure I keep my platen and the shirt clean (also get that nice even heat).

I use EZ Off iron cleaner. I get mine from www.heatpressessentials.com It smells great and cleans really well with just a washrag, but for really tuff thick stuff, I use the green Scotch-Brite Heavy Duty Scour Pads.

Not sure if that version of Corel will cut directly, but Corel X4 works great. Highly recommend getting the upgrade to X4.

I use both the TSquareIT! and the LogoIT! I can probably eyeball them closely, but I've found I spend more time second guessing myself than just quickly making sure I'm centered and squared in one quick shot. Always have a lot of positive comments from customers that have done business other places and not received graphics positioned well and consistently on their garments.

Hix is my favorite brand. They are built really well and designed by someone who actually used them in his own transfer business.

Cool! I like that. Any chance you got it from somewhere in a pdf format that you can link us too? Just want to put it up in the shop for reference and am too lazy to retype it.

I am offering a formal apology to Marcus O., all moderators, and all members and guests, that I have offended re: entries on the forum about CV.
I am new on board..replied to several entries of folks "wanting" and "needing" supplies and simply tried to help out by letting everybody know we may be able to help out. I honestly didn't know that Marcus has a sign supply business and I am devastated that I displayed "poor business practices".
If you want to be annoyed with any one, be annoyed with me, Marie, the newbie , not Tim and Jack, the owners of Carolina Vinyl. Thank you for your time and understanding.
Marie
Thanks for the apology. Glad to see there is a person there and glad to have another vendor forum member, but understand that we occasionally get people that just come here to promote themselves and aren't really planning on participating in the forums. With your first 8 or so posts only being adds for your store, it just put you in that category. I don't have any problem with your store info being in your sig or wherever as long as there is some contribution to the forums along with it. Welcome back

They weren't so great to deal with on our forums. They just spammed the place to death.

Been getting the same hand off treatment through email. Not interested in a company that operates this way. I'm done with them.

Anyone ran into small wrinkles in their letters? These were Glittercut vinyl, but I'm thinking the issue is with the bags they are going on. Its some cheap Chinese zebra striped bags that don't even say what they are and the place they bought them from doesn't know. They just say they are microfiber. The seem to be fine at 300-325 degrees, but much higher temps seem to be a problem. I think its a poly blend, but not really sure. Looks like the zebra stripes are probably sublimated on the white bags. Could the wrinkling be from slight shrinkage in the bags? I've tried it with and with out pads under it, but same problem.
