Anybody using sandblast resist to make signs? I am trying it and it does OK. I made a rustic type sign but didn't like the usual way most sandblasted signs are done. For these small signs, I don't like the way vertical grain wood looks so I use a flat or curved grain cedar. I need to make a few changes but hers my first one. I know I need to do something (scallops) for the edges but on this one, the graphic was too close to the edge to use the router so I left it alone for now.

as soon as you open the graphic, go to "arrange" and then select "group" and they will all resize together

Not sure what you wanted but here is the cutable image without the writing inside and no fill, just the outlines for cutting the black. skullInHelmut.eps skullInHelmut.eps

I haven't used inkscape but the corel draw trace is pretty good
-
One way to find out is to go to www.graphtec.com and download the cuttingmaster plugin for corel and then use corel to open anything (graphic or text ) and then click on the little " ROCKET" icon and see if the cut/plot option will open the cutting master plugin. You can uninstall the cuttingmaster after the test if you don't need it .

Very nice. Youtube is where I learned to do multi layered decals too. Did you do it first try? It took me two tries to make everything in the video connect inside my brain. The first one, I masked all the layers individually instead of using one mask for all layers. Good luck. Terry

OEM should be marked on the packaging. Be carefull of any software not in origonal packaging.

???HELP!!! I can't get the cut/plot option to open in corel to send to plotter. Robomaster doesn't want to accept anything from corel to cut. I am very frustrated.
-
If all you ever do is draw and print to a regular printer, it's ok. If you think you'll ever need someones plug-in to work with it NO!Neither the academic nor the OEM versions comes with the visual basic run time tools for corel draw.

for the white, just make it the background and cut it as the entire circle and lay it down first.

Official: How To Price Small Decals...
DTFuqua replied to john!'s topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Unless you are a charitable organization, you need to have a minimum fee for work you do. Some people will work you to death on little penny-anty stuff. You say its only a few cents worth of vinyl, but what about your time and efforts? I have been broke before and resolved to not be broke and wore out too. If I do any job for someone that isn't family or close friend, there is a minimum charge of $20. Especially in this economy, you need to be profitable. You don't have to give your services away to get decent paying jobs. In fact, it should be the other way around. You might want to be a little charitable to your customers that bring you good work if they happen to ask for something small and quick. They are the ones that deserve it. They can keep you profitable while the cheepo's will keep you working AND broke. Good luck. Terry PS I am broke right now though not working for pennys but learning new things like sandblasting, using my cutter to make attractive graphics to sandblast into signs. -
Congratulations on your success. How do you like the feel of the vinyl transfer? What transfer vinyl did you use? I use the Siser ezweed and it feels like a high quality screen print and seems to be set to last longer in good condition than one of my NASCAR licensed shirts I bought a while back. I emphasized NASCAR licensed because I don't think they ( NASCAR) would allow cheep printers (poor quality printers) to do their shirts. Good luck and have fur. Terry

What flexi do you have? Can you design anything in it or is it just the starter package? I had problem cutting from corel to my cutter and bought flexi to use as a cutting only program and had the same problems, I just got my corel fixed and quit importing anything to flexi. If I can design just simple stuff directly in flexi, I might use it again but I just really quit using it to all intents and purposes.

a laser point doesn't print. You need to elaborate and be specific in the details.

Pricing coroplast sign?
DTFuqua replied to Lonestargraphics's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Why not spend $2? on the signcraft magizine and get their pricing guide for free? I use it. I do do adjust at a percentage for the difference in prices for my area. -
Big coro sign pricing
DTFuqua replied to john!'s topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Signcraft magazine pricing guide says $163 for the two pieces not counting any layout time for graphics. Personaly, my area is around 25% lower than the guide. Good luck with the sale. Terry -
Thanks for the update. I'm glad mine had no real problems other than the usual operator errors. There were enough of those that a real problem might have given me fits.

I actualy think a single color gators logo doesn'r do justice to them. You realy ought to try to get somewhere near the real colors and make yourself and the person recieving it proud.

Congradulations on fixing the problem. Can we assume that this was not a new machine? If so, do you know how many hours of use were on it or how old it is? Thanks for letting us know the fix and good luck in the future. Terry

Looks good and thanks for your understanding of the reasoning for the border. Now I've got to come with something more than just plain jane letering on my Rendezvous. Thanks for the insight. Good luck and you should do pretty good. Terry
