  1. I've been watching the last few days and I think the people that I was referring to when I started this rant have moved on to other ventures to make their first or in 1 case second million. Back to a group of respectful and helpful people sharing ideas. Now would someone tell me how to make my first million... please

    Jay

That's easy, just get half a million friends to each loan you $2.

  2. Tekcorps, Did you recongize the font or how did you know what it was? I ran throught the identifont.com questions and it came up with something close, but not exact.

  3. What gets me is the number of people that just ask for stuff to be done for them when with a simple quick google search you can usually find exactly what they are wanting. Especially all the graphic request.

I am one of the guys that just bought this stuff with no real clue what I was doing. However I didn't get it to start a buisness, just to make decals for my motorcycle club and friends. I think the big problem with most people and computer stuff, they don't read. 95% of the time if you just read what's on the screen and use a little logic you can figure out how to do what ever it is you're trying to do. Then there's google, by the time I come to the forum to ask a question I've exhausted all obvious answers.

  4. The other option is to node edit the vectored image to get the detail you want. Just a question of which tool you like to use. I like to do a combo of both. Get the image as close as I can to what I want in photoshop then convert it to a vector and clean it up a little more.

  5. Can you break up an object through node editing only? For example, and this is a very very simple example.

Say you have a long rectangle and you want to cut it in half and turn it into two squares with a gap between them. So far the best method I've found for doing this is drawing another rectangle that intercets with the one I want to modify and use the Difference path tool to cut the rectangle and then I can move nodes around of the two individual shapes to get the desired affect.

Is there a better way? If the question isn't clear I can try and put together some sample images of what I'm doing to clarify, I just don't have access to inkscape right now.

  6. I would think for price it would really depend on the amount of time it takes you. How long did it take to convert his image to a graphic you could cut? How long did it take to weed it? How long do you think it will take to install? Add all that up, figure out what you want to charge per hour (I think $40 to $50 is typical) and then add in the cost of materials used.

  7. Is there a way to mark all the forums as read? I've been looking for it and the only thing I find is when you go into an individual forum you can then mark all post as read. I'd like to be able to do this for the entire forum. I'm starting to believe this is not an option though. :(

  8. Double check the colors. For example, they may both look like they are black but they can in fact be two different colors. When you go to the cut screen, to the left is all the colors in the project. I've found that the black from an imported EPS file is not the same black as something created in Signblazer.

  9. You can also try editing the image to get a good crisp edge to then do a bitmap trace in inkscape. I've found http://pixlr.com/editor/ this page to be a pretty handy free online editor. The magic wand tool isn't as nice as the one from Photoshop but it usually gets the job done.

  10. If you do want to do text in Inkscape, when you save the file off as an EPS check the box "Convert texts to paths" and they'll import to SB then. You could also convert the text to paths in inkscape before saving by selecting the text and then under "Path" select "Object to Path".
