Uh, what kind of bet is that? The kind that he doesn't want to lose money on?

I've been planning to build one of these for over a year... just never seem to find the time...

Find My Font will not only identify most fonts out there, it will provide you with links to where you can download/purchase that font, too!
You can also have it search for the closest free font!- 3

I know it's been entirely too long for me. I'm doing a full back up of all my business related folders - fonts, clipart, invoices, cutomer designs, etc. Almost 148,000 files and 114 GB... Gonna be a while, even copying to a USB 3 hard drive...

Went out to hit some garage sales this morning before it got hot. One of the last sales I stopped at I saw what I thought at first was a flourescent light fixture - then when I got closer, I thought maybe it was an x-ray viewer from a doctor's office. Then when I up close and read the manufacturer's label, I realized it was actually a blank, back-lit sign!
It's dirty, and I'm sure the bulbs need to be replaced, but for $1.50, I couldn't turn it down! Now I just need to figure out what to put on it... Worst case scenario, I can use it as a weeding table. It's 50" long and 18" wide (with frame).

I keep saying I'm going to buy some of this stuff some day to try, but just never get around to it... http://www.gilderspaste.com/

Found this video - apparently you don't need a rotary attachment for small designs on rounded surfaces -

You can, but this model doesn't specifically support a rotary attachment - there are plenty of upgrade options to replace the controller board and additional features, like support for a rotary attachment, I just haven't got that far yet.

I went with one of the cheap ones that are popular with hobbyists and tinkerers - http://www.ebay.com/itm/152106266467?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
There are a large number of mods online that improve it's performance, but it works great out of the box - and it works with Corel via a plug-in like the Cutting Master plug-in for my Graphtec, so I don't have to worry about learning new software. It comes with a (probably pirated) copy of Corel Draw v12, but the plug-in works with versions up through X7, so I didn't have to mess with the old version.
I had to go the hardware store and buy a plumbing adapter because the water cooling pump has a 1/2" outlet and the inlet hose is 1/4" OD, but the part was less than $3, so not a big deal.
I've got everything working, but I'm still working out the details on how to line things up in software and in the cutter so they come out right - all of the documentation is in Mandarin Chinese, so not real helpful, but there are numerous YouTube videos and a few Facebook groups of people willing to help.

Finally broke down and bought a laser cutter/engraver. It seemed that everyone wanted really intricate glass engraving and I got tired of picking the little pieces of vinyl off the glass and decided there had to be a better, faster way.
Put a Dollar Tree mirrored glass candle holder in and ZAP - 30 seconds later it had ablated the backing material away and etched the glass underneath.
Still working on aligning the engraving to the blank, but I think I've got it figured out. You can see that the top right bit of the last "r" in mirror is missing - it ran into the rubber foot on the back of the mirror and didn't burn completely through...
Just wish all the accompanying documentation was in English, would sure have made the learning part easier...- 3

OW Jones thats because its all bollocks and self promotionI agree, but if they're going to put someone on TV as a relevant expert, he should at least have some sort of educational or occupational background matching his "expertise"...

Spent today at Floris Flag Day Festival in Floris, Iowa (population 138). I put out my usual assortment of buttons plus a few anti-candidate (#NEVER TRUMP, ANYONE BUT HILLARY, ETC) buttons plus this one...
It was the sleeper hit of the day. It was about 6 hours after I had put the buttons out that the first one of that design sold - then once people saw the guy wearing it, they all wanted to have one and I got swamped and completely sold out of that design - so people started buying the other anti-candidate designs... I had to start handing out business cards to people telling them to contact me if they wanted more. Then someone asked if I could make it as a decal to put on his hard hat for work...
Thought I'd share the design in case anyone else wants to make some money off of it - just remember who your friends were once you're wealthy!

I see an issue a lot with red shirts - when you press the area that heats up will change color compared to the rest of the shirt. I've seen the problem referred to as "dye migration" although I don't know if that is the real name of what we're seeing. Usually the color will change back after cooling to room temp, or after the first wash.

And there is no risk of the square of transparent taking off the paint when he removes it?
-
A new art gallery has opened in town and the owner is asking me for small vinyl numbers to be put on the wall to number each work of art, but they have to be easily removable and not damage the wall. He said they had something like that an NYC gallery he worked at.
Anyone ever cut anything like that?

I burned my hands several times with my first clamshell - haven't burnt myself once (knock on wood!) since I upgraded to a swing-away.

I specifically use the name "Oil Slick" vinyl because of people who can't handle the idea of "rainbow". That is also the name the seller of the vinyl uses, too.
It is NOT rainbow colored - it is silver with a rainbow shimmer to it. I have a design with this material on my truck window and in sunlight it looks like shiny silver with an oil slick over it. It is a very cool look.- 3
