    Vectorizing Issue

What's that little 'apples' icon/button there at the bottom (next to colors)?
  2. When I owned the MH unit, I never took it down below top-speed 800. Now that I'm using the SC2, it's always set for 800, slicing & dicing like a champ. If you do install the SBE program, the cutter model is RedSail, OK?
  3. Red cap 45* Yellow cap 30* Blue cap 60* Here's a good deal for a blade. Only $49.95 https://plotterdepot.com/product/vinyl-45-cutter-blade
  4. Nice of you to get back here to report on the solution. Always appreciated to see mysteries solved. Great news that the motherboard itself was fine, and only this damaged ribbon cable connected to it was at fault. Astonishing how even the smallest 'dinger' can bring a very expensive and powerful machine to a halt.

    Alternative Software or Print Drivers?

SBE will only function using COM ports 1-4. SBE is notoriously buggy with Copy-Pasting graphics (my copy will crash if trying to copy-paste directly from an image grabbed on the internet), much better to Export your work, and then Import to SB. (.eps legacy version, since SBE works only up to A-I v8) Your machine is not a printer, it's a cutter/plotter.
  6. I'm on my way out the door, but wanted to quickly mention a way to verify a 'software glitch' -- choose another software to run the job. SignBlazer comes to mind.

Can I use a tablet to connect my vinyl printer

The quick answer is "no" --- cutters do not function with tablets (nor smartphones). The main reason for this is the lack of 'legacy' communications (COM) ports. Your DH will just have to stick to the laptop with that MH. As for the design part of your question, the standard format for vector graphics is 'eps' (Encapsulated PostScript) which is based on paths of lines & nodes. To put it into less technical jargon, you'll need to obtain a program like Affinity Designer for iPad that allows the creation of 'eps' files, that you can export and then import onto the laptop with VinylMaster, which will then do the cutting part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpXOD0z3FSo Nobody here has ever done that, so your DH would have to be the trailblazer on this process and report back to us on how things went.

    Help with removal

No idea, can't see what you are talking about. Is the 'printed design' on vinyl perforated material? Heat gun is my best guess.
  11. I can cut down to 1/8" letters with the SC2, so I imagine the LP3 can do that as well. Generally, I don't go that tiny, since miniaturization of text is not useful for signage. My SC2 stand is constructed with rollers placed in front. I'm not arguing that the LP3 is of equal quality to Graphtec (or Roland, or Mimaki, or GCC) My intention is to point out that users of the 'value cutters' can still achieve the results they seek for a substantially reduced price. James is seeking a new Graphtec (he has a Graphtec already). He may or may not require it for what he's doing, his mileage may vary. My design and cut software is SignBlazer, free. Even VinylMaster software is powerful enough for most people. Now, as we head into 2024, I really need to get working on improving my standing with Santa.
  12. $4,500 FC9000-75 (USCUTTER pricing) not including media basket. (another few hundred bucks) $900 LPIII 34" with stand and media basket included. I asked Santa for one of those babies, but I didn't get off the 'naughty' list this year.
  13. I find it interesting that this seller doesn't list the 34" (aka 30") size --- which are their 75-series models.
  14. I feel sorry for the volunteer moderators here, they're being inundated daily with floods of spam. The addition of a CAPTCHA (confirmed as human) verification system would likely eliminate that. Happy Christmas. 16. Quick suggestion, try using a different software, to verify the problem is hardware-related. SignBlazer is available (use RedSail machine driver).
  17. The head moves side to side (x) and up and down (z), not back & forward. The grit rollers (y) perform the task of advancing and retracting the vinyl, which you say is not happening correctly. If your Y axis is malfunctioning, there's nothing we can do about that from our seats here in front of our computers. You already have done some preliminary work to find out what's causing the failure (not the buttons) so the answer must be found within the actual motherboard circuitry. That is beyond our pay grade.
  18. I've been on hold for quite a long time with Exodus Customer Care support number. I hate it when that happens.
  19. Looking at this photo, it appears that blade tip is extended out wayyyyyyy too far. (I can see it in the picture, which is not good!)

    Vevor 720

You're welcome. Just to go back to the VCP thing. It's a small little driver that installs a VIRTUAL COM PORT (vcp) which will then appear in the SignBlazer CutterSetup menu, and you choose it in the list. Did SCAL actually have the Vevor listed as a cutter? Nice. SCAL is sufficient for basic hobbyist things. If you want, install a FONT (wingdings) with a bunch of Christmas-y items. 'Tis the season... https://cuttingforbusiness.com/10-free-commercial-use-christmas-dingbat-fonts/

You got plenty of help, dindn'tja? Were you able to connect without the VCP? Are you happy with using SCAL? Sixty bucks is a great deal, especially now that it functions, and isn't a brick. When we are troubleshooting, it's usually best to be near the machine, so we aren't getting through one step at a time every few days. Anyway, it's all good, congrats.
  22. --deleted-- (tried to be clever, failed, and can't contribute really any productive reply, but looking at the post by darcshadow, he might be onto something, and to get any mac person here is a slight miracle).

We'll just be waiting here with bated breath. And out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it?

Well, good luck with it. Asked you twice about VCP. You didn't answer.

Haumana, as he turns on the cutter, (or hits reset button) it performs a full self-test action of all three axis. Zip-Zip-Kerplunk. That indicates good functionality of the machine. (a 'test cut' is a very different thing than just seeing if the unit is working on all 3 directions xyz). You are right about the tech of cutters. It's pretty much the same as when plotters first were built in the 1950's, (Remington-Rand and Hewlett-Packard) Our mission is to get the cutter to respond and cut. SignBlazer will do that, once the com port issue is solved. Moving forward, after that's accomplished and the unit springs to life when sending "CUT" from SBE, then he can go ahead and buy the compatible software of his choice (probably Signmaster is the way to go, around $50) The Vevor720 has USB. No need for an adaptor of any kind.
