  1. I was under the impression that humidity decreased static problems.  What did you do to fix it?

I'm sure you're not using a demo copy of software, because I know there's a brand that will do just that.  Can't remember which one does it, I think it's Sign Cut.

Also there have been many people who had similiar problems, myself included, but my problem was the knife would drop about half way coming back to the origin.  My problem was caused by too much humidity in the room causing static electricity.

  2. Thank you for coming back and posting this information.  I agree that it is our problem and I would have liked to address it earlier, but we seemed to be running around in circles.  We had previously ruled out SignBlazer, but I am now thinking that it may be a combination of the way that SignBlazer behaves with the FTDI port.  We will concentrate on this.  Thanks again.  (And believe me, I understand your frustration).

Well on a good note I would like to apologize if I sounded like I was lashing out but this was very frustrating! I have tried everything on the threads and they did not work. I finally got a copy of flexi 8 and was able to cut very large and detailed graphics with so far no problems. the thing that is funny is that I noticed that in signblazer elements that when it was sending to the cutter and cutting that is where it would lock up(in the progress bar) then the cutter would stop! In my opinion since the software change I am going with the problem is a software issue. Now on another note it would still be US Cutter's problem with supplying this software into the cutter package. Maybe look into this. Thanks everone for any replies to figuing out this problem!

  3. Joe, I have to say that this is something that we tend to do.  I was scared for a second that you might be talking about us, but it seems from the thread that it is not.  I would have to say, it is a very difficult situation for the seller.  eBay has about a million rules and they constantly seem to change.  From a manager's perspective it is difficult to educate your staff on how to deal with every little situation.  I myself being in charge, only now after reading your post, recognize the hardship that the situation causes you.  I just assumed that the refund would place the money back into your eBay account and as such, you could use it to make another payment.

The problem for the seller lies in that eBay has had very strict rules on which transactions it protects and which ones it does not.  If your transaction is not protected, you will almost always loose if the buyer makes and accusation of wrong-doing.  And the transaction will not be protected unless the seller refund payment and it is made over again.  So sellers have had to be extra cautious about which transactions they accept (and this is especially true of high value items).  Between trying to take care of all the nuances of eBay (which is like hearding cats), it is easy to let some things slip through the cracks - especially when you are trying to be efficient and automate certain parts of your business.  I would guess that while the situation is frustrating, it is more the fault of eBay for not having a consistent and easy way for seller to do business rather than the fault of the seller (who is probably a perfectly legitimate seller trying to provide the best product that they can).  If it were me, I would take it easy on the seller.

Today I bought something on ebay. Before paying I contacted the seller and asked if he ship stuff to PR and how much would be and we set everything. I paid it in the morning. About 2 hours ago I received an email from the seller saying Paypal couldnt recognize my address so he refunded the money, just like that, he didnt ask to see if there was a mistake or if I wanted my item shipped somewhere else. He just decided he would refund the money and didnt look for options. The thing is that it didnt cost $5, it was $300, now those $300 are in hold for 3 to 5 days.

Im really dissapointed, he didnt try anything.

I never leave negative feedback If I dont like something, lets say slow shipping or seller communication I just tell the seller and ignore the feedback, but this time I got mad for this issue.

Now I have to find $300 more dollars if I want a similar item fast or wait up to 6 days.

    Too Bad.

    JC

  4. Is there any reason why you are using foil rather than a reflective vinyl material?  You can get reflective vinyl that looks just like foil, but cuts just like vinyl.  If that is not an option, I would suggest a cutting mat with some tack.  It is on the list of products that we would like to carry, but we haven't found a reliable supplier yet.  Hopefully we will have something within the next month.  Another option would be to laminate the foil on some low-tack application tape.  Good luck.

  5. Please post your file.  Also, have you tried setting the baud rate to 4800 on both the cutter and on the computer?

just got the usb to serial cord. installed it and now it  freezes befor it even tries to cut. i click cut then cut tile and it freezes. now what?

    Cutter Model - mh721

Cutting Speed Setting on Cutter 24inches/s

Version of SignBlazer - signnlazer elements 2007

Version of FTDI drive- usb to serial

Whether the problem is consistent? yep every time

If possible, do a few runs without the blade and time them to see if you are getting a consistent point at which the problem occurs.

  6. Let me clarify some points:

    1. The machines are tested before shipping.  It is likely that any damage occurs due to being mishandled during shipping.  We do not think it is best to ship a machine back and forth thereby turning one shipment into three and further increasing the risk of damage.  Shipping the machines is very expensive, so we generally try to fix warranty issues by sending out parts and offering phone instruction on how to replace parts. In this case, we didn't have parts on hand due at the time of issue, but as soon as we received parts, we would have sent them out. I am sorry that we did not have parts available, we usually have parts on hand, but this is an unusual circumstance. In this case, the machine was still functioning as a vinyl cutter, and it is only the laser that was not working.

    2. eBay orders are handled differently than web-site orders. eBay buyers tend to value low cost above all else so we have listed our auctions accordingly.  We are very clear about our terms, and we take a hit on price due to those terms being less than ideal for consumers.  It is only fair that since you receive a lower price that you accept the terms that we have clearly identified. In the event of a problem, we still offer the customer a means to repair the unit without incurring high cost as long as they are willing to spend some time.  If you prefer no risk, then buy through our website - you get the added bonus of a longer warranty.

    3. Another reason that we have those terms is because some customers have little patience or understanding of how to connect machines.  If we were to offer more lenient terms, a customer's first reaction upon not being able to make a proper serial connection would be to ask for an RMA.  These terms give the customer an incentive to work with us to find a resolution.  In the vast majority of cases, we resolve the issue without problem and the policy helps us cut down on costs substantially.

We really do offer a better product at a better price than all of our competitors.  We also offer you the choice to decide whether you prefer to accept some risk for an even lower price.  I would prefer to be able to offer the best customer service to all my customers, but unfortunately we are in a business that is driven by volume, and some tradeoffs have to be made.  That said, we continue to build an infrastructure to better serve our customers.  Our product, service, and support will only get better over time.  I am sorry that we let you down.

  7. ok today i tried cutting only one line at a time. as opposed to sending all the lines to cut at the same time and it worked fine. however, i had to scroll the vinyl back each time to the original position (time consuming). i'm using the hpgl driver.

Please reply and include the file that you are having problems with along with:

    Cutter Model

    Cutting Speed Setting on Cutter

    Version of SignBlazer

    Version of FTDI driver

    Whether the problem is consistent?

If possible, do a few runs without the blade and time them to see if you are getting a consistent point at which the problem occurs.

  8. This is clearly a problem that we need to address.  Although there have been some occasional problems with USB cables, I don't think that USB cables are causing the issue.  It is probably a buffer issue which is related to the USB to serial converter chip.  We haven't been able to reproduce the issue, so we need your help.

I am making it a top priority.  For those of you having problems, please attach the file that you are having problems cutting.  Please also include the following details:

    Cutter Model

    Cutting Speed Setting on Cutter

    Version of SignBlazer

    Version of FTDI driver

    Whether the problem is consistent?

If possible, do a few runs without the blade and time them to see if you are getting a consistent point at which the problem occurs.

  9. i have a pcut ctn630. i dont see where i would connect that thing. do u have a picture u can post on how u connected it?

HtsNstr21, your PCUT probably doesn't have a serial connector.  Are you having the same problem?  If so, please attach the file that you are having problems with and explain what percentage of the time you are having problems.

  10. I had the same issues when using the USB connection on the Laserpoint.  I wasted a lot of vinyl on half-cut designs before trying the serial connection.  This was the solution that allowed me to use my USB only laptop.  I've had no further issues since installing this:

Just get one of these and use the serial cable that came with your cutter.

JimmieD, Can you please tell me, which driver does this adapter use?  Is it Prolific?
