Complete newb very happy with latest work

Thanks for the comments. No doubt I will still be enjoying this after "a few hundred" cuts. Although I was warned by the wife that I may need permission before I 'tag' the walls again My biggest problem, which I share with restaurant menus, is that there's so many possibilities, I have trouble deciding what to try next. I also have to get over my, ummm, frugal-ness (I'm cheap). I always think that I don't want to 'waste' vinyl when in fact it's not really that expensive. I hate to waste just inches of vinyl when there's 30 feet of it on the roll... I think it costs me more to print color images on my inkjet than it does to cut on vinyl.

Suggestions on taping, transfering 24x36 sign?

I like that idea of laying it down face up, even with the tape I never thought of that. But that wouldn't work for the stiff sign material. Maybe half the problem solved and will have to try it. The idea of using a large roll to flatten the tape as it goes sounds good too. That should also work great. 'Steam roller' type process. But a tube from an empty vinyl roll? haven't used that much yet I think I will have to get larger tape also. The 12" would only cover with 3 passes and that's a big waste of tape. Luckily I had some used tape laying around that I cut to strip down the middle where the two 12 inch sections didn't meet. Thanks for the great replies. So I'll have to make a roll holder just to try it. Have to try the tape face up and definitely try using a roller over the tape as it lays down. Then I'll have to see what size larger rolls the tape comes in. 24 inch tape seems like it would be awfully difficult to work with? Maybe two section of something like 14" Time to get an order together as I also want to try some heat transfer soon...

    New but not!!

Congrats and welcome. I also just recently bought my first cutter. Opted for the PCut and am still excited about it. I know a lot of people complain about the noise, but I don't think it loud at all. May be because of the radio and fan of the pellet stive drowning it out? But I like hearing it and knowing it's working at something Now if you want noise, try a Carvewright or Compucarve! You have to leave the room when that's carving. Luckily(?) it's a piece of cr** and never does do any work so I don't have to worry about it...

New, and thank you to this forum

Thanks! Yes, seeing the graphics on the wall is amazing. I did two more tonight that came out okay. Seems small ones are much more difficult than the large ones. The cardinal and ladybug are both about 6 inches. I cut two sets of these across the 24 inch vinyl. Seems I'll have to try some adjustments on the cutter for such small things as many of the cuts weren't quite complete. Nothing major, but enough to have to use the weeding tool to keep some of the small pieces and points down when pulling off the waste. Now I'm looking into something humorous and probably for my van Here's the eps of the frog (which I think I got from this forum? but did do a little tweaking) and the new pics... frog2d.eps
