Cannot see the Off Topic Section

What's that?? I swear I hear the theme music to the Twilight Zone. Naw, but seriously ... I don't know why that would happen. You should post that issue in the web section for Ken and Marcus to look into. :-

    .eps file types ...

I know that there are different types of .eps files, but I was wondering, is there such a thing as Illustrator .eps (specific) files? I know that Illustrator can create, open, and save .eps, but I'm wondering if thre are certain types of .epf file that are saved in and for Illustrator so that only Illustrator can open? I hope I didn't confuse you guys. I think I'm a little confused myself

  5. I think the difficulty with this particular design is the intricacies. It's not just detailed, but it has small details. Doing a silhouettes are pretty simple, not very intricate. If you able to find adhesive backing, then weeding off the little tidbits that are left behind might suck.
  6. I'd guess that you'd need to use some type of light adhesive backing or the blade might end up snagging on something, than there you just get jacked from there. After looking at how detailed it is... I'd pay the buck. Or plot pen the detail and just cut the outline. It's not a punch through, but at least you'll get the design.

Is your house full of decals?

Is your house full of decals?

I like Bill Nye! But will admit that I don't like him enough to put a decal of him on anything that I own. Now if it were Albert Einstein, he would stand a better chance of being plastered to some of my stuff. I've had my cutter for about 6 months now, and only last week did I finally put a decal on my vehicle, and it's a small one at that. I put a couple on my glass sliding door, but since we're going to be moving I peeled all but one off (so people don't walk into the glass door when it's closed).

    .eps file types ...

Yah, there have been a few files that people send to me, but then I either need to send it back, or find someone else to down convert it for me. I'm chugging along with AI9, without an upgrade in sight. I priced what it would cast to buy at my local university bookstore (I have an ID to do contract work on the medical building campus) that would get me the "academic" discount of $200. Still kind of pricey for one piece of software.

    file?

That's a small file with a low resolution. I enlarged it, but it will probably still need a little more touch-up. sitting lab.eps sitting lab.eps
  13. Good grief Charlie Brown! That's a lot of stencils . I hope it'll be easy weeding stuff.

    Installation

Not sure why the tint shop really has bubbles in the first place. I've gone through a LOT of vehicles and have tinted all of them. Not once did my tinter ever leave bubbles on any of the windows. If the window curvature was extreme, then those windows would be done in multiple pieces (with the cuts being hidden one the defrost lines). If anything, it takes few days of decent heat for the adhesive to cure well enough to roll your windows down. Sometimes there is very minute shrinkage too. If there's bubbles, then tinter should find a different method of application. You can give them the benefit of the doubt, but if the water dries up and there is still a bubble left - you'll get visual deflection, and there's a good change the bubble(s) will haze, and an even better chance that the bubble will eventually crack after some time and then it'll start tearing.

    headlight vinyl

I know that there is some kind of vinyl used as an overlay for headlight protection. I just wonder if you need something that is specially formulated to handle that kind of heat. or if the adhesive would just get so soft that the vinyl will eventually start to sag or slip downwards. Let us know what you end up doing, and any pics if you can

    Jeep Wrangler X decal

Try it now. I bumped up the resolution from 72 dpi (standard web resolution) to 300 dpi. Same thing though - you might want to straighten it out before vectorizing it. The weeding part might suck with the small circles.

    Identify this Font Pls.

If the client paid that much money and he an online company do the design, then they should have provided him/her with the vector copy of it. I had my logo designed by an online company ... actually I had it digitized and vectorized (this was way before I knew how to do it myself). Anyway, your client should be able to either provide you (via email) with the scalable file, or provide you with a CD of the vectorized file. If he can't or won't, then he should at least be able to contact the design company and ask them either for the .ttf file, or the name of the font. Good luck. EDIT: I think this is what you're looking for ... You might need to adjust the vertical alignment. optimusprinceps.zip optimusprinceps.zip

    serious Question

It sucks to have a bad customer talking smack, but that happens in almost any business. Just know that you do quality work and your reputation will build upon itself. If someone asks you about it, you can just let the facts speak for themselves: He was a happy customer when he took delivery - he signed a receipt and paid for it in full. He then requested a refund because of certain complaints, but before you could attempt to validate and find a comprise he destroyed the evidence. Did you happen to photo your handy work? Just sounds like this guy might be a jerk.

    serious Question

no refund. he was more than happy to drive off with it. perhaps it was his brother that didn't like it. whatever, no pic, no refund ... even with a pic, no refund. It's kind of like buying a car, you drive off the lot, find out that you really don't like the color, then trying to return it for a full refund. no way buddy! I agree with polar ... a discount for a single order in the future.... even though he doesn't deserve it.
