Difference between copam 24 and lp 2400 ?
haumana replied to fantome2024's topic in Pre-sale questions
USCutter LaserPoint - The brand new line from USCutter. This model is based on the Creation PCUT line, but includes a number of updates that we requested after hearing feedback from our customers. We have included a laser alignment mechnism that is built into the carriage which will allow precision alignment for contour cutting of printed images. While the contour cutting software is not available yet, it is very close to a beta release and will be provided as a free update to SignBlazer. In addition, this model has a slightly smaller profile which makes it easier (and safer) to ship. Finally, all models with stand include a newly design material basket which keeper your material from falling to the floor and getting dirty. We are able to offer this model at a modest increase in price over our very economical Creation PCUT model. Copam - Our top-of-the-line series. This machine offers features that are not available on any other cutter at this price point. Our 24" model weighs a massive 67 pounds (compared to 45 pounds for the Refine), and if you observe this model in person, you will see that no compromises were made. This machine is the machine you will want if you are a professional sign maker or if you are using thick material. The stronger motors will power through material like stencil board and sandblast mask. Of course, our top of the line machine is the fastest, quietest, and most accurate of the four, and it absolutely destroys all equivalently priced models such as the higher priced Enduracut Plus from Signwarehouse. This model also has a longer warranty term. -
scanned at 1200dpi should have given you a much larger image file. at any rate, you're probably better off printing it up and tracing it onto another piece of paper ... at least that's what I would do if someone game me business card logo to blow-up and convert to vinyl. you can always ask that he provide the original image, and if he can't you can explain to him that the image is sooo small, that it's next to impossible to work with. yikes.

PLEASE HELP!! Bought new plotter today and it has error stating ....
haumana replied to idahobudgetbanners's topic in General discussion
Provide a little more detail.... what model cutter do you have? Which software are you using to cut? If you're using Sign Blazer Elements, which driver are you selecting for your cutter, and which port on the cut screen? and what John already covered - how are you connecting your cutter to your computer? If you're using USB, it's not recommended that you use a hub. The cutters with USB connection work best when being plugged directly to the PC/laptop without anything in between. If you have a serial port on your computer, you can try using that means of connection - it seems the most stable and clears up a lot of issues that many others have had with cutting. If you don't have a serial port, not to worry, there are adapters (Serial to USB) that will just as well - you can find them as cheap as 99 cents on eBay. They are called keyspan. -
I have the same complaint about that too. I now have my LP "trimmed" with painters tape on the back side, just before it hits the pinch rollers, and extra application tape that I had on the front side like you. It's such a horrible aesthetic design flaw. It made me mental for a while, then I just taped it.

Can you scan the business card at a higher resolution? If so, scan it at its highest resolutions, crop out the junk (the text), then repost the image. It also helps if you can beef up the dpi during scanning too. That's going to be tough. He's using and emoticon, and those are usually setup no bigger than 50x50 pixels.

First off to the forum! This is the best source for your US Cutter questions. Forgive Ken and Marcus, they're always busy, but the members here are second to none and will always try to steer you the right way. For your needs, either the Refine or LP will do. I personally have the LaserPoint 24 and couldn't be happier. Many more have the Refine and couldn't be happier with theirs either. More people have the Refine because it's been out longer, the LaserPoint is US Cutter's newer models. Bottom line is either cutter will work well for you. The best support will be on this board. Good luck with your decision. Whichever one you decide to buy, either will be a good decision.

Cutter recommendation for newbie with no cutter or vector experience
haumana replied to cbs1963's topic in Pre-sale questions
I always feel like the LaserPoint gets the shaft I never had cutting or vectoring experience prior to getting my LaserPoint 24 (in November 2007). I like my LP. I have no complaints with exception as to better directions for the setting up the stand, but that's more an exercise in patience than anything else. I recommend the LP. Not above or below the Pcut or Refine, just another cutter to toss in as an option. However, if you can expand the budget a bit, I would recommend the Copam. As with anything, support is the most important thing. You cannot get better support for your cutter or whatever you're trying to do with your cutter outside of the forum. Good luck with your decision. -
First off to the forum! I would suggestion you post your .sbd file (at the bottom of the reply section, click "Additional Options...") then attach it to your reply so other forum members can figure out what's going on with your file and the issues you're having. Usually another member can point out what the issue is, as well as post the "fixed" file too.

Same here. I don't know if it's because I was using an older version of AI (v.9), or if it was a plug-in that I needed to pay for. I tinkered for about a week, then just ditched it all together.
-
I don't know jack about Signcut or WinPC Pro. You might want to take the file and try posting it in those bulletin boards, you might get a better/faster response as to why it doesn't work for you. Good luck.

I wish I could 'sticky' stuff. I think we need to petition Ken or Marcus (maybe John) to help us with that. Hmmm... I think everyone should start gathering the ID of the eBay losers that you've encountered and why... Then we'll really get a "Bad eBay sellers" list going.

Maybe we should start a "who to avoid" list of eBay ID's

So I'm going to put this offer out to anyone interested ... and haven't bought a gift for your mother yet ... If anyone wants to give their mother chocolate covered macadamia nuts (15 pieces/box), or chocolate covered mac nuts with caramel (11 pieces/box), or 3-can mac nut selection: 1-can milk chocolate covered, 1-can roasted salted, 1-can kona coffee dark chocolate covered (total weight: 1.1 lbs.). Then let me know. I currently can get a first two at $2/box, and the canned nuts at $8. There's no "built-in" mark-up. It's what I pay, and I can pass that along to you. I don't know how long I can get this stuff at this price, but if the price increases, I will more than happily refund your money. I can even drop ship it with a special note from you. Everything would be shipped via USPS Priority out of Hawai'i, so it'll take an additional day or so. I will be using a flat rate boxes (the size of your order will determine which flat rate box is used. If your order requires multiple boxes, then there will be multiple shipping charges), so shipping is fixed at $10 or $14 - includes delivery confirmation. Insurance is optional at the fee schedule set by the Post Office. Shipping charges are based on domestic postage only. I accept PayPal. I don't make money on this. I just thought it would something nice to offer you guys. I cannot guaranty that the chocolate won't melt during transit - but with the vog here, we haven't been getting very hot lately, and I make every effort to transport them in a cooler to the post office so they won't melt in my car on the way there. If anyone is interested, let me know. I figured if I can get everything in the mail by Tuesday (at the latest), packages should arrive Friday or Saturday. EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to post the photos of the stuff.

Hey ... and now you're a week and a half ahead of the game this year!!! kudos!!! It's not too late to make some fancy dinner reservations someplace

I hear you. I wasn't anti-Inkscape, I was just pro-VectorMagic ... until they started charging. Now I'm an Inkscape newbie advocate! I only know how to do one thing in it, but that's the most important thing.

Ahh ... so the secret is old Ford Model A's parts. Got it! I'm wondering if I try to construct one out of PVC it it'll be sturdy enough. Oh well, trial by fire.
-
I think it's because I imported into PS first, then cranked up the resolution ... apparently not enough though. I think next time it'll go straight to Inkscape and be done with it. Thanks for point that out though!
-
I think the clamp and stick part is easy, but what are you guys fabbing the vertical 'stick holders' with?
-
Inkscape ... I don't know how to use anything else ... except for VM, and I've tried my best not to turn into an addicted VM-junkie.

I was having some of the those issues too. It's intermittent and I haven't quite found the fix for it. What end up doing is pulling out the blade and holder and cleaning them up really well. I'm not sure if it's caused because the blade isn't rotating in the holder properly, or if there's some kind of build-up of adhesive or what. It's a little annoying, but it hasn't caused me to totally scrap stuff that I've cut (knock on wood).

Is this a chicken or the egg questions? If you never saw it, how did you get here? Inquiring minds want to know
