  1. Thanks for the words of encouragement!
  2. I just finished my first Vinyl () and I must say I am doubting SignCut. I love how straightforward and user friendly it is, but for a program subtitled "Productivity" Pro, I had alot of issues. Now my vinyl was large, 13" x 80", so I expected it to take a while to cut (I had my speed set to 30), but a vast majority of cut time was spent tracking all the way from nose to tail just to cut out 1 path at a time. If you look at the design, you can imagine my frustration of having to wait for the cutter to spend 80% of the cut time tracking back and forth. Also, the dialog box that has estimated times on it is totally useless. The estimated total time swung from 8 to 3.5 hours at random, and never went even close to the actual cut time of around 110 minutes. Is there a setting to have the cutter simply move from one side of the design to the other in an effort to cut out a complex design efficiently? Like I said, this was the first thing i've actually cut, so sorry if there's a simple fix I overlooked. Nick

    My First Real Vinyl

I finally broke in my Pcut CT630, and learned a few good lessons about vinyl feeding and where to start my cuts. So the theory behind this vinyl is - I'm a sturgeon fisherman, and it's illegal to take a fish out of the water unless it's legal keeper size (between 38" and 54"), so this will be stuck to the side of the boat at the waterline which will allow me to measure fish easily without taking them out of the water. It turned out well, I think. Overall size is 13" x 80", White Oracal 751 layered over Black Oracal 651.
  4. Has anyone experienced the wet application method affecting the Vinyl adhering to the surface?
  5. This is a Nirvana mural i did for my sister a few months back. I cut my mask by hand for this one (about 20 hours of work), but I just got a PCUT CT630 that'll be my mask cutting workhorse from all my future murals.
  6. I'm planning on using my cutter mainly for cutting paint mask for mural work. Big mural work - I'm designing one that's 30' x 10' right now - and hand cutting masks for that was way too much work. I'm running Windows 7 on a quad core machine with 8gb ram, and I have my PCUT CT630 hooked up with USB - should I chop my mask up into maybe 5' sections to avoid the cutter from freezing halfway through?
  7. I looked through the other thread about PCUT blade assembly but the lack of pictures made it hard to visualize the solution - but in regards to that thread I agree with RpmRanger - the blade sheath, when adjusted to the correct blade depth, is barely threaded onto the main assembly and seems very unstable. I guess i'll just have to strap it on and see what I get.
  8. I don't want to start out my cutting by slicing right through my $100 dollar roll of paint mask - I can't help but feel like my blade holder is missing something, and the translated-from-Chinese-manual is no help. When the blade sheath is tightened up (middle picture in the diagram), the blade sticks out a certain distance and the only way to lessen the distance the blade is sticking out is to loosen the sheath (bottom picture in the diagram), which seems a terrible inconsistent and slip-prone system. Am I overthinking this, am I missing a part, or is there some other way of shortening blade length i am just not seeing? Thanks, Nicholas

    Vinyl and Seawater

I was wondering if anyone has has any experience applying vinyl to areas that were consistently exposed to seawater, like the hull of a boat. What vinyl would you recommend? Nick
