    Working on doing a bar

I used transfer tape to apply the letters one at a time, at this size is just way easier than trying to handle a 4ftx5ft sign. There isn't a clear sheet on it, the backing on the white vinyl is just really shiney. I need to upload my pics of them installed, I got a few of them up yesturday, but then took advantage of helping a friend at his bar (i.e. free booze) and got a bit sidetracked. Brandon

Thanks, I tried the cheap stuff as well, and had nothing but trouble weeding, the oracal just rocks, and its not 'that' much more expensive. My time is worth more than the vinyl, so I don't skimp. Just cut and lettered my uncles race car about an hour ago as well. I love metallic B

    Working on doing a bar

Buddy of mine is opening his bar tonight, local guy was QUITE pricy. I got about an hour in it and $40 bucks in vynil. I made several sizes for different doors, and a HUGE shamrock for each of the basketball goals (crazy eh?) Anyways its pretty clean and simple. The one in the picture is over 5 feet long, cut with Oracal 651 for both the green and white border. I won't use anything else anymore this stuff just rocks. Forgot how much fun this thing is to play with! B

    Cutting Small Text?

Hey Billy, What version of Flexi are you running? I can't seem to find the point editor you spoke of. I am sure its just something stupid I am doing and can't find it. Thanks again! Brandon

    Cutting Small Text?

LMAO, My problem is if I have a problem I just can't sleep till its resolved =) Just checked those two boxes, it helped, but I am still getting a burr where the pen starts and stops on a letter. Any other ideas? BTW it acutally has less 'burr' when I use Artcut which tells me its the software not telling it to finish the cut. Thanks again! Brandon

    Cutting Small Text?

    Cutting Small Text?

Well looking more at it tonight, it looks like where the cutter start and stop point while cutting the letter is leaving no overlap on the cut, so you get spots on every letter than is somewhat still attached. I've look in flexi for awhile tonight just tinkering with differance things, but I can't find anywhere that lets me add some additional overlap on the letters. Last question, does it hurt to maybe 'lube' the vinyl so it gets a smoother cut? Sorry for being a pest, I just like nifty intricate cuts =) Brandon
  9. Hey All, I know marcel has posted that he didnt have any issues doing it, but my question is my cuts look like its actually doing more tearing than cutting. I've cleaned the blades, and replaced it as well, and tried it on all sorts of speeds. The only thing I have left is maybe the vinyl itself is just junk? Any ideas? Thanks! Brandon
  10. Your absolutly right, when I went to justify the expense of the cutter, I simply looked at my reciepts of my old signage, it was very easy to justify! Hopefully I will be able to get up to your abilities, the ones you got in the pics are awesome! THey look very time consuming as well! I think I might print some flames and flame my mower this weekend HAH! I actually need to order some more pens, mine are all getting dried out. I'll keep ya in mind when I replace some. Brandon
  11. HAHAH, well I got a nice HP plotter I use with cad for drawing cabinets that has 5 pens, so I doubt I will ever use this for plotting, BUT i am working on plans for my new house soo it might be cool to use this for a 'full sized' copy! Its already 12:30 here and i've ripped through most of my signage I bought this for. The local vinyl places wanted over $500 to cut and apply the vinyl on my store windows, Including installation and assembly I have already cut all teh signage for my store, and only have about $100 extra in it all. I am going to cut some signs for my trucks later on tomorrow, and should be ahead of the game after that! My next step is to figure out how to change the increments in Artcut to inches! I wasted a few feet of vinyl finding the absolute limits from the software to teh cutter. I think I am going to cut some stencils tomorrow to do my Cornhole game Brandon
  12. Hey Marcel A better manual would be nice, which showed what the cutter was supposed to look like once installed in a mh1351, it took me a few mins to figure out, because the cutting head had a bevel on it which I would have assumed retained it in the carriage. The second note would be what billy pointed out to me, maybe a quick checklist when you unbox to ensure things are where they should be, for example the wheels in the rail for the carriage being where they belong. The Third, would be a simple firmware update, that retains the baud setting when the reset button is pressed. I use the reset button so that when I go back online it doesn't go back to the material thats already used. Thanks for a great cutter! Brandon PS I recieved my cutter today and want the warranty, can I still purchase it (your ebay auction states only if you select insurance, and but at the time of sale, things I missed when I bought it)
  13. Puffer, make sure you hit the setup button on teh printer and set it to 4800 baud. The default ANY time you press reset is 9600. Just something to add to the new features Marcel. Make it so that does not reset everytime you press it. My bets is your software is correctly configured by now, but your printer may be at 9600 still. If its not 4800, it will show its sent to the printer, but it won't do anything. Give that a shot. I've learned alot in the last 2.5 hours with my new one I just got. Brandon
  14. Billy, Looking at it closer you were 100% right! Luckily they are spring loaded and easily reset back in the track. This also cured the grinding sound (not sure they are related but it cuts great now, and appears to be using the cutting pad vs the outfeed. I love this cutter already, I cut about 5 signs (pretty small and dumb, Brandon Rules, Keep out of my F'in place, ect) Thanks a ton for answer! This should make the FAQ =) that and the cutter position as it relates to where it is actually installed into the carriage. With the bevel I woulda thought it went into the slot that it fits, but it does reside above the carriage. I am a bit surprised they don't use a bit shorter cutter assembly and install it in teh carriage so that it pinned in there. Thanks alot!! Brandon
  15. Ok Figured out the cutter head, it sits on TOP of the carriage assembly, with the the raised edge on there, I would have assumed it went in between the V, vs on top. The only other issue I have is the grinding when it parks. ANyone else having this issue? Thanks! Brandon PS this thing appears to be NICE!!
