  1. PowerTape is expensive though. considering you can get hem tape for a 3rd of the cost. I did use powertape alot, alot of people want the folded over edge look around hereso i started folding or having them sewn now

  2. Guess Im not good enough to hang out ;)

    I took day of

and spent whole day yesterday in Ohio in FiveStars shop.

Great little community ,and great set up he has there.

Thank you for hospitality David, I hope I will  have chance to return it same way.

  3. Yeah no doubt the speed will come, but im stuck paying Canadian prices for everything from local suppliers or I get nailed hard on brokering fees from the states.

The banner material I had to buy a full roll cuz APPARENTLY no one stocks black banner material in Toronto, and that was 150 plus taxes for a 24 yard roll, so call it 7 bucks a yard, about 2.40 a linear foot = 19.20

The vinyl was 1.50 a yard for 15" wide Oracal, I used about 16 yards = 24 bucks

App tape, Rapid Tac 2 paper towels tape etc.... 5 bucks

So by my estimation Ive got about 48 bucks in materials into each one assuming my math is right.

Thats alot for your cost. I mean they wholesale for that cost and thats making money...

Anyone ever charge "wealthy" people more than a bum off the street???

I might sell this to a guy in a ford escort for $75

    A guy in a brand new BMW,lexus..etc...Hes paing $125

Is that wrong. I see it everyday, I just wanted to know if anyone does this with banners and decals?

  4. yeah, that's more like a button press in design. The upper part compresses as the thing is lowered. The hat contacts the ring first. I've never seen one like that before. Does it require specific gromets or will any self-piercing grommet do?

I just use the self piecering ones from fellers. Thats the only ones i have ever used. Not sure if i got lucky or anyone would work...

  5. not to ask a stupid question, but how are you doing it? I've seen people put the hats and rings in wrong.

John quit making fun of me.  ;D ;D ;D Yes I did them wrong when I first got my grommet machine.

    I wasn't gonna name names...lol...

anyway, if the pic shows it as he did it, he is doing it backwards just like you were.

The hats go on the bottom, the rings on top. You do it from the backside of the banner.

the pic shows the hat in it's correct position.

    John

Mines the other way around. The hat snaps on top and the rig on the bottom, and you do it with the banner facing up? maybe the different brands are different?

  6. I love fellers also. Theres one just a couple minutes from my work. I just call and pick it up on my way home. I just called about some fathead material and they said they didnt have it in columbus so they would overnight it from PA. They also price match for me. I say this person has it for this amount...they say ok. let me check...2 minutes later its a done deal...

  7. for the grommet's I would look into the one Us Cutter has. It seems to be getting good reviews.

I am not in the banner printing field right now but hope to be one of these days. I recently ordered one online and it was a nice heavy 14oz banner. Not sure of the brand. He used a banner tape to roll the edges over then sealed the corners with grommets.

Thats how i do it also

  8. I have a 54" roland Versacamm as many of you know... This is what i do. Not saying its right by any means but its what i do for this.

What i try to follow is anywhere from $3-5 per order of $50. I apply this to vinyl thats printed only. no labor/install anything like that. just what they are paying for it to come out of my printer.

So if they spend $200 on bumper stickers. they will give me 12-20 depending on if they are a fancy contour cut and laminated. The printer guys have to add the fee of the laminator also. I just add this to the estimate. i dont say "this is for a shop fee" that way they never complain...

    Juat what i do...
