Election Day Rant- You Knew it was Coming

Recommended Posts

Our nation is screwed.  Socialism on it's way and so is terrorism.

I understand your worries . IF the guy does what he says ( wouldn't that be the 1rst for any politician  ) We will be better off than with what the other guy said he would have done  IMHO . The problem of cooperation with the senate & house will not be as difficult as other Pres . based on what results I seen before I went to bed last night . I think there is no use doing anything 1/2 way . Try it completely , half hearted attempts are a awaste of time in anything  . Easy to blame not geting things done ( like the health care Clinton talked about 16 years ago ) on politics .1 party trying to do honest improvements & the other party fighting it mainly because of party lines is not a positive thing .

I like the single tax Idea, but as with everything, this too shall pass, A similar situation happend in Michigan with the taxes and bond issues used for Schools. They state said okay we will put the lottery profits into the school system, thrus releasing and downsizing the taxible base needed on residential property taxes. So what happend, for a few years the property taxes went down, by a fair amount, but then, every so quietly, they went up, and up, and they are getting back to where they were initially. But as stated the cost of everything has jumped much higher than what a "cost of living" increase each year can provide. I really beleive on of the biggest downfalls to our economy occured when we were taken off of the gold standard. Now the government can print money till they puke, but it ain't worth the paper its printed on. As I type this I See that Obama, easily won the presidential election based on the platform of "Change", last time i checked  every elected president to date, also ran on the "Change" platform or some form thereof. Historic election, sure, I agree, but the election won't mean a damn thing if the history books read " The Great Depression and the modern economic Collapse of THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in 2009" The president elect ( black, white, jew, gentile, whatever) Not only now has racial barriers to overcome, but a global mess to say the least. One of the few things I take solice in is knowing that American's are a fighting breed, we want what we beleive is ours , or can be ours through hard work and faith in God and Family. With that fighting spirit comes The dream of being a business owner and making a go of it. So those new business beginnings need signs and graphics and custom art, photos, etc. I guess that is where we come in on the foodchain, lol  so I guess we need to get to work, the more Vinyl signs we make, the more businesses are out there trying to rebuild our economy...Please Lord grant me peace, cause we got a lotta work to do...

interesting & positive post  . Makes me think about the whole "change " thing ( both parties used that ) . History is only good for references IMHO , every day is totally new & what worked then ( & what didn't work ) , might only have some relevance now . basic values etc are always going to be the same but there isn't alot of logic comparing situations when MANY things are different .

I can't honestly remember a politician that was able to do everything they said they would during their campaign, but like you said most of that failure it due to representatives not wanting to cross party lines, party loyalty is a joke, why can't politicians just act on behalf of their constituants? Politics, lol One of the leading causes to Alcoholism today, yesterday and tommorrow !

It would be nice to remember anything substantial a president did that he said while a candidate . I agree 100 % with what you said " why can't polititians just act on behalf of their constituants ? " the rest of what you said gave me a good chuckle  for the people I know that are alcoholics , they would find another reason if the politics didn't give good enough reason . I hope " spread the welath " means not taking as much away from the people making under $250,000 . I am in that group & don't want others money , just want to keep more of what I make . I want to pay my " fair " share & think the same ratio tax thingy could work .

I can remember one who TRIED...Jimmy Carter. But the republican congress blocked him at every turn and he was defeated by an actor.

That proably is the frustrating part , For the presidents & for the people . The speechs/promises should be " I will TRY to .... "  . I liked Jimmy Carters presidency & think the negatives directed towards him are not fair . My dad told me , the house & senate does things or doesn't do things BUT the president gets the blame . It is very hard to accomplish goals with so many agendas being served , especially when greed ( BIG business ) gets involved .

The Iran Hostage crisis didn't help Carter either, but I will admit, even though I was young at the time of his presidency, he did try to do more for the homeless and jobless. But now I look at our future as a country with anticipation and fear, Can Obama make a difference, and what would happen if one of the Pycho Racial hate groups pulls off the unthinkable and actually goes through with an assassination attempt, it could unlesh a civil war within this country, that would be like nothing we have ever seen before, at least on our own ground. The next few months could define us in the history books for certain; do we adapt and evolve as a country and modern society, or do we implode under our own faults of the past ?

The iran hostage crisis cost Carter a second term. He thouight it wasn't proper for a President to be out campaigning during such a crisis...apparently Reagan did not and took full advantage of it.

It also seems a funny coincidence that the hostages were released the day Reagan was sworn in.

I think you are worrying too much  ;D . The future is always unforseen . ALOT of possibilities in this situation & every other situation . I hope the racial thing stays out of consideration .  Everybody do what they can , put 1 foot in front of the other & keep going forward . I hope ALOT of drastic change happens very quickly , but in reality it will most likely be small changes happening slowly .

on a side note , happiest moment today has been seeing jesse jackson crying ...seems because Obama won. That gives me great hope in Obama along with almost everything Obama said .

edit : this was in response to Primal Rages's post  ;D , I thought it was hilarious they released the hostages before Regan took control also . They probably thought his finger was on the nuke launch button  ;D

edit # 2 ; I thought jesse jackson had denounced Obama & was on McCains force ( can you tell i have disdain for jesse jackson ? ;D ) anything jackson is against can't be all wrong to paraphrase W.C. Fields
