OUTLINE AND SHADOW

I WANT THE WRITING TO HAVE AN OUTLINE AND A SHADOW. I HAVE TRIED TO WELD THEM TOGETHER AND COMBINE THEM BUT FOR SOME REASON I CAN'T MAKE IT WORK!  IT CUTS OUT THE OUTLINE THEN GOES BACK AND CUTS OUT THE SHADOW. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?  PLEASE HELP I NEED TO GET THIS DONE

Try this:

 

Create the outline

Create the shadow

Select both the outline and the shadow

Arrange + Weld + Total Weld

Double checking your design in wireframe mode is a good way to catch things like this before you cut and waste vinyl.
