Anything I can do on a 34" cutter and not a 53"?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm trying to decide on the MH-1351 or the MH-871.  Is there anything that the 34" cutter can do that can't be done on the larger model?  Can I cut smaller 12" & 24" stock on the MH-1351 OK?

I know bigger isn't always better and was wondering why the smaller machine is more expensive on eBay.

Thank you

Mark

I'm not sure what you are seeing,  but on EBAY  the 871 is $289.99  and 1351 is  $449.99     BUY IT NOW that is...

Yes , fit into a space less than 53" . The wider cutter should cut as narrow a roll of vinyl as the other . It depends on the pinch rollers & the vinyl roller itself . I have a 24" Co-Pam & the exposed parts of the vinyl roller is spaced so I can cut widths from 1" to 24" . I think some models have the vinyl roller exposed all the way across . Unless you are going to be doing bigger than 24" decals on a regular basis, the wider cutter is not needed much at all IMO . You can tile the decal ( make 24" parts that overlap ) just as you could make 53" tiles . I have 6" rolls of vinyl that i make text lines out of that winds up being 24" tall signs ( You can buy cut off rolls of vinyl at a good deal on E-Bay )

Only one thing comes to mind.  Cut 48 inch vinyl.

Take up a lot more floor space for the few times you will cut 48" vinyl.

personally I think it would be easier to do a large piece in multiple tiles than to take on ONE huge piece.... but that's just me

Go with the smaller of the two... These things DO take up more space than you'd expect.
