  1. So there you have it. Confirmed. That's pretty good logic to me. Guess thats why I always in trouble.
  2. My wife was saw this thread when I was reading it tonight. She let me know in a hurry not to even think it. What? It looks cool. Her reply was, "Tonight is 27 years of marriage, you think about that. Don't even think about new toys for at least a little while." So there is hope! Odd thing is, as were getting ready to out, I swear she said, "Why did I marry a man who is still a little kid?" Uhm, because it's never boring? Oops.

    First sublimation. Be gentle.

Oops. Well, at least if I'm gonna make mistakes, I get them all in on one night. So tomorrow, I'll try again at 14-15 minutes and see how that does. The nice thing about the mugs, I have no troubles getting rid of my mess ups. BTW, going from paint and vinyl, I appreciate the help on stepping into something else.

looking for ideas on my car

I've used it on lower rocker panels for 4 wheel drive trucks. Yes, it takes several coats. Besides, it was just a thought.

This time the wrap was tight enough that the paper wanted to stick to it. Don't know why my phone pictures are so grainy, but here is the last one tonight. The mug is for the guy who's logo that is. He gets a free mug, I get the practice. LOL!

The wraps and mugs are from Conde. Ink and paper from Cobra.

OK, next one is in the oven. I rechecked the temps. A little low, so I tried bring the temp up a little. Made sure the wrap was good and snug. Going for 12 minutes. We'll see what happens.

I'd have thought I got the wrap too tight. I cranked them down pretty good. But I'll go a little more this next time and see how that does.

400 is what I set the oven at. Have no idea what oven it is. It's a convection oven that the wife got me from a supplier she uses. She's a cook. More than likely, I'll have to hit it with the temp gun to see what it's actually at. I suspect that 400 isn't quite 400. I went 12 minutes on the first on and 13 minutes on the second one. I might do a few more tonight to see if I can get it dialed in a little better. The boat is a replica of one my dad was on that sank in the early 60s during a fishing boat rescue. The people in the picture are him and another family member. The cup is for my dad. I thought it turned out as well as the picture would allow. LOL! The first cup is my old website logo.

Yes, black is brownish. I set the oven to 400 degrees. So I'll have to double check the temps or turn it up a little on the oven's settings. Thanks!

Check into Plasti-Dip Dip Your Car It's a peel-able coating you can change the color of your car. It holds up pretty well on rocker panels.

    Good recovery. LOL!

    This made me chuckle.

I came across this on Amazon. 10 mouse pads for the low low price of $85.47 + $12.99 shipping. Hmm, think I could find a better deal?

    Vinyl Mastrr V4?

Easy now. 53 ain't that old. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Then again, my wife tells me I'm still 5 years old. Oh wait, she says I ACT like a 5 year old. Works for me.

Suggestions on stencil for Etching cream

Armour Etch - Light frosting, can sometimes be patchy. Velvet Etching Cream - Light frosting. Coats well and has better coverage. Etchall Dip n Etch - does pretty good, but it's a dipping solution, so mostly for small stuff. Air Eraser - best results without a full sandblaster outfit. I prefer Paasche, Badger or Master brands. Fairly affordable. A small portable compressor and for small etching might be the best bet, but takes some practice. They make sandblast resist vinyl in several thicknesses. I prefer something in the 6 mil+ range. Some of the local sandblasters like Oracal 631 and I would think with an air erasure, a person wouldn't have too many troubles with it. Just my thoughts. Hope it helps.

Stencil Paint Mask question, Oramask 811?

I'm gonna go with skarekrow on that. Unless your wood is sanded smooth and sealed, it's likely that the mask is leaving a lot of surface open for the paint to get into. Even with metal work and AutoAir airbrush paint, there is a happy medium of time to pull the mask to get clean edges. If pulled too soon, the liquid paint wants to come with the mask. Pulled too late and the paint has flashed too much and you risk pulling paint from the area you want it to stay, leaving a jagged edge. Anyways, just my opinion.

    Another newbie

Been lurking for a week or so. Reading, learning and all of that sort. Bought a vinyl cutter years back, mostly to use on masking motorcycle tanks and fenders. It sat idle for the last year or so and was dealing with a new tank paint job and I was a little rusty on cutting, so I came here to read up on it. Then I discovered sublimation and it peaked my interest, so I may be off on another adventure with that. From the Oregon coast, where if it isn't raining, it soon will be.

    Ya'll are enablers.

Each and every one of you. What did I get myself into? I was talking with some folks about the sublimation stuff, one guy wants 24 mugs done up with a simple design as soon as I get set up and comfortable. Then he wants more for his business and thinks his business partner will want some. Told him that I'd have to charge a reasonable rate for them. He tells me how much the last ones cost him, with image set up charges, shipping and all that. Evidently, some promotional places charge a vector and per color charge for the image to print to mugs? Granted, his old ones look really good, but man he paid for it. I haven't even got set up yet. And then wants to know when I'll have the heat press for mouse pads and stuff. Wait. What? I have no idea how this happened. Now I have to figure out how many mugs I have to order and good grief, I'm not telling them about the shot glasses yet. Who knows how many of those they'll want. I am so sunk.

    Ya'll are enablers.

So now I have a new computer, cups, shot glasses, wraps for cups and shot glasses and convection toaster oven. Heat press "out for delivery" on Fraud Ex. So I'm hoping they find the house by 8:00 pm, but not holding my breath. And a printer and transfer paper scheduled for delivery Monday. Do you have any idea how hard it is for someone with zero patience to have everything but the printer and transfer paper? And loading all the programs to the new computer is a pain. Deep breaths, Monday will be here soon. LOL!

    polyester blend shirts?

What blend works best with sublimation? The reason I ask is Wally World has 50/50 T-shirt 12 for $25.99 But not having done any shirts, I see a lot of places selling 100% polyester for sublimation. So has anyone tried the 50/50 shirts?

looking for ideas on my car

This Sorry, as an airbrusher, I always go for the skulls. Or this Or carbon fiber look on the center section of the hood. With black, gotta go with something that pops or greyscale/black & white images. Just my opinion.

My therapy or what I do to keep from going nuts

Nice work guys! I don't have the patience for woodwork. If I screw up on metal, I can weld it, grind it down, smooth it out and put paint on it and no one knows the difference. Wood isn't that forgiving. When I make a mistake with wood, it's like it puts a big sign that says, "He messed up, RIGHT HERE" LOL!
