    Starter performance shirts

I just finished 30 nylon back pack type bags for the school soccer team and I had to tone down the heat, the first bag I did at 320 for 15 sec and it melted the seams of the bag AND the vinyl. the rest of them I did at 315 foor 15 sec and they did pretty well. I did a wind breaker as well at this temp. When you refer to siser ew you are talking bout the EXTRA ( for leather and nylon) right? I havent tried just regular ew on nylon. For cotton I use the reccommended setting of 304 at 15 sec.

  4. I have purchased a pcut creation and i cannot figure out the directions for the floorstand....can someone help
  5. I'm currently reseaching for a purchase in the VERY near future of a graphtec . I am torn between the roland 24 inch cutter and the graphtec. I have a pcut that I'm running the sh*t out of right now and disliking more and more everyday! I have wasted more tshirt vinyl than i care to count, had to deal with sbe locking up a dozen times a day and seriously need to upgrade to be able to do longer runs and smaller cuts! I have been extremly busy with tshirt orders and getting more and more everyday. people are ordering between 20 and 50 shirts and I'm getting backed up dealing with the pcut issues and wasting expensive tshirt vinyl because of it. I am leaning towards a graphtec because of all the good things i have heard about it and because the graphtec forum is way shorter in the problems area than any other cutter listed here...lol. well besides the roland. I do have a 12 inch roland cutter that costs me 1200 and has never given me a bit of trouble its just too small to do anything with. Any suggestions out here? Are there any issues with usb connection for the graphtec? Give me some input please!!! Renee

    Doing some research!

Tory, thanx for the input! I think I'm going to go with the graphtec. I think most of my problems are caused by the usb connection. ( the stopping in the middle of a job and computer freezing up) All the new computers do not have an serial port and there is no where to put it, believe me I have tried! Right now I figure I'm wasting a boatload of tshirt vinyl as well as a total of 3 hours per day out of a 9 hour day because of having to stop and restart the computer and the program and setting up the job AGAIN....<sigh> I'm hating it! I has served me well for starting out 6 months ago but its well past time for me upgrade! Speedoggy- I need to be able to do long runs and not worry about the machine stopping, going off track ( the pcut does on longer runs) and cant even leave the machine because as soon as I do, something messes up! thanx for the input! A word to the wise before posting "show your work"

I agree, I dont think he was trying to start any trouble here at all, he was warning the rest of us about posting our work is all. He used to be a very active member here, I wonder what happened. Renee
  8. You are so right in this John! My son and his wife purchased an HD dvd player, and was happy with it though the movies cost more, well a few months ago walmart stopped carrying HD movies and when they asked about they were told that they decided to stop carrying them because everyone was buying blueray, now you cant hardly find HD movies anywhere. They are stuck with an HD player. Reminds me of years ago when they came out with VHS players and BETA players...well we all know what happened to the BETA players...lol.

    Doing some research!

thanx guys for the response! Fire, you do love your graphtec! you told me exactly what I wanted to know. Do you guys use the software that came with it or something else? I will be of course buying it from uscutter and they do have a few software options as an add on to the purchase. My pcut has made me some money, I got what I paid for with the pcut but its definetly time to upgrade to a better cutter. the pcut is great for small jobs but when I get orders for 50 shirts x 2 or 5 well its not so great. As cheap as the cutter was, It has done me well so I'm not complaining. Renee
  10. I know this an old post but I had to put my 02. cents in...lol. I bought a dell laptop less than 6 months ago that came with a 64 bit. I have had nothing BUT problems with it! Dell sent me the 32 bit operating system and I did a clean install, so far everything is smooth. What good is the speed of a 64 bit if you cant run anything on it? Alot of the programs I use did not support the 64 bit and they advised me to not use these programs...lol. I told them that was not a good solution to my problem so they send me the 32 bit and I'm a happy camper! I'm getting ready to upgrade my pcut to a graphtec and ran across this post.

I love this forum for many reasons and the sharing is included in that. I thought it was so cool that people were willing to share. I have done my fair share of sharing and love doing it. Seems to me ever since Ken left there has been a dramatic change in the additudes here. People complaining about others asking for help in vectorizing or complaining of others asking for files. I have downloaded my work in the form of finished product as well as in eps. When I check it there will be 20-50 downloads. There will be maybe 2 thank you's. I'm guessing people are downloading it and not wanting others to know they actually downloaded it so they do it on the sly. The people downloading are more than likely not even members as anyone can come right on in here without joining and download to thier hears content. Thats the only part of this forum I would change. Make it so you have to join in order to be able to access certain areas. I dont ever worry about people stealing my work, I mean that can be done in your own town! I get many ideas from people right here in my town as well as from this forum. People all over wear the shirts you design, or see the signs you designed or the glass you etched. If its good and they like it, they either think ohhh where did you get that or they think wow I can make one of those...lol. If you dont want to post your work for fear of someone stealing it then dont show, dont sell it, lock it up in a closet somewhere and never let anyone see it! LOL!! On the same note, dont download someone elses work, because thats being a hypicrit. ( bad spelling) I'm willing to bet it does happen! Dont know that for sure as the forum doesnt let you know who is taking your file unless you THANK the person you are taking from! Personally I have taken and I have also contributed and will continue to do so! Renee
  12. Very nice packages! I'm sure they will be big sellers. I would have had a hard time deciding which package to get!

    Where to get vinyl?

Doesnt work for everyone. Me personally i would rather get my paper elsewhere.. SignwareHouse is cheaper even with shipping to me and the service has been better to me than USC has.. What works for you might not for someone else. I have to agree with this, uscutter is too far from me to get it shipped in a fast turn around. I order from speciality_graphics and its shipped the same day, most of the time free shipping and I ordered on Monday and had it wednesday. great prices as well as when I order rolls i will also order just a foot of something new I want to try rather than order a whole roll of something I'm not going to like. Bartering?

I also suck when it comes to billing! Right now I am bartering with a customer, he came in and ordered 15.00 worth of stick people for his wifes vehicle, we got to talking, turns out he is a roofer and I need a roof put on my house and have a 150 yr old oak tree right beside it, well there is a huge limb that hangs over the width of the house. My roof is only 4 yrs old but the material that is used is called enduro ( it comes in large sheets) it is molded kinda wavy material with valleys. well the valleys are all clogged up with leaves, acorns etc so the water backs up and my roof is leaking in 2 places. This material that the roof is made out of gets fragile when its cold outside or extremely hot. you can not walk on it. so basically fall and early spring is the only time you can work on it. well I got an estimate of 6,000 to replace the roof about a month ago. (I have a wrap around porch, it wraps around the front, side and the complete back so I have 2 roofs plus a few dormer windows.) He climbed up there the other day and said I had a good roof and it didnt need replacing. I needed to have the tree limb cut down and the valleys cleaned out and some kind of sealant put on it. Turns out he just got layed off from his job ( big surprise, I'm saying that with sarcasm) and will do the cutting of the tree limb, and clean the valleys out for 300.00 and I'm going to do his business cards, flyers, and a couple of tshirts) then he is going to seal my roof for me. price undetermined. This sealant stuff costs 51.00 a bucket. Still cheaper than a new roof!

    Can coozie picture

I have done 6 at a time with my heat press, works great! I did find that the longer i left the press down, the koozie cups would get a little stiff so I usually left them on the press for 10 sec. Good Job Sabrina! Renee

    Etching: Sand vs Cream

I havent used the sand blast one but I have used the etching cream and like it. So easy to use! I would be interested to know what the others say on this though as I was thinking about trying the sand blast one as well so I can compare the two. Renee

    vinyl catalogs

Fellers will send you a catalog as well as the vinyl sample catalog. I know a few other companys will do it as well. If you google vinyl suppliers or something like that you may come up with a list of stores. I have always found this forum a wealth of information for alot of different things. I would rather go by others experience with different types of vinyl rather than the written word from the company who makes the vinyl. I have read on a few different forums that avery is NO GOOD, 3M is the best, shinerite is ok and oracle is very good. I use oracle most of the time but I do have some shinerite.

    Is the newspaper dead?

We live in such a small town that we only get the paper once a week. They tried twice a week but didnt have enough news to keep it going. I'm like Jenny, I love the portability of the paper! But because we only get it once a week, my bathroom has alot of various reading material in it! Got to have something to read...lol.
