www.inkscape.org Vectorising in Inkscape SolutionThis walk through explains the basics of vectorising in Inkscape. Step 1) Import your image. Click File>Import, find your file and click OK. Step 2) Select the image, go to the top of the screen, click Path>Trace Bitmap. Step 3) The Trace Bitmap menu will then open. Here you can select how you want your image vectorised and adjust the settings. You can also generate a preview. Once you are happy with the preview click OK and close the Trace Bitmap screen. Step 4) Now you will have your new vector image and the old raster (bitmap, jpeg, gif etc) image stacked on top of each other. Seperate the two and delete the raster. Step 5) Play around with your new vector image!

you need something like corel, illustrator, inkscape is FREE vector software. www.inkscape.org.

What cutting software are you using with that cutter? The ad I found says Artcut. Most people have problems with it. don't know where you bought your cutter, but they are sold here and the drivers are here http://www.macroenter.com/Articles.asp?ID=147 If that don't work. try a Roland PNC1000 driver, it is a generic driver

your cutter cuts from right to left, so you have to start at the far right on your vinyl. , and place your vinyl to the far right. to stay away from the reset button, and hit the origin button to start from that area. Also in Signblazer there is a place to CHECK MARK, rotate across vinyl, to change directions of your width of design. .

have them cut some detailed work on it, while you are there. also like Dakota said. great deal.

what operating system are you using? Windows? Mac, I have used Flexistarter for over 4 years, very user friendly. It is a cutting software, and can import alot more different formats than most cutting software. Or if you are using windows, Signblazer is a free cutting software that can be downloaded right from the forum. Free. Most others are design and cutting and cost quite a bit. You plug the keyspan USB to your computer, then connect the end of Keyspan to the serial cable you got with the cutter, then the end of serial cable to your cutter. I have been using Flexistarter for over 4 years. very user friendly., I use with windows though. can I come visit you this winter? LOL I live in Indiana, cold...

First off . are you importing your files? NOT OPEN...Signblazer doesn't have anything to do with your cutter being a paperweight. If you don't like Signblazer, which is FREE software, then purchase design/cutting software you do like that you feel comfortable with. You also got Signcut with your cutter, which you can use inkscape software (FREE) with, or can import other vector images with, TRY IT. YES, put up a screen shot.

I don't have any, am already stocked up on Graphtec blades. I have never heard of any one renewing them. This may not fix your problem at all, It can also depend on the cutter and the vinyl you are using. and your adjustments, Blade should barely be seen. You can actually take your holder out of the carriage and cut the vinyl, if it is going into the backing at all, the blade is out too far and picking the vinyl up. It also depends on the design your cutting, on how small of detail, I have not seen a Pcut cut real small details. But a Graphtec will.
