  1. duck on a june bug? I haven't heard that since I lived in Selmer Tennessee. But you are right about the red, white blue thang!
  2. Another thing to think about is since it's a 3' x 8', you could actually cut the Donut hole logo at 24", giving you 6" space at the top and bottom without having to do it in two pieces. You really don't want to crowd the logo into the frame edge anyway. And I understand you not wanting to leave money on the table. But you also don't want to watch that money go into someones pocket but yours!
  3. I don't know what the market is like in Utah but I charge $10.00 per square foot for the vinyl alone. He would probably jump on the $6.00 per square as I'm sure you will be well below most of the sign shops around you. It really depends on if you are turning a profit at the price you quote.
  4. If you use coroplast, you need to know that it will start breaking down in about 3 years if it's in direct sunlight. Especially the white! I have a piece on my front porch that's a little over 3 years old that gets morning sun only. I can walk out there and push through it with my finger. If you plan on having them as a long term customer, I would go with the extra money of a metal sign blank. Just bump up the price to cover the difference and they will be satisfied. And the people who see your work will probably come to you quicker.

    Billy Hughes

I can affirm that I am in no way a genius! And if I posted a pic, it would scare people away from not only my posts, but the forum as well. Thanks for the kind words of my helping. But to me, the real Kings of the forum are Fivestar, BannerJohn, Beardown and Tater. They have taken this forum farther than I ever could have! thanks Terry! I'm trying to get back on more. I hope you do the same.

    Copam CP-2500

I've had my cp2500 for a few years now and never had any mechanical problems with it. It cuts small lettering well and even fine detail. I run a lot of plotter art on it for hours and hours and it keeps going as long as I keep feeding it data. The only complaint I have is the feed rollers. Since it is not a full bar roller, you really have to watch your placement of material until your mind gets used to the setup. It runs faster than my mh721 which is good at times. But some of the plots I do seem to work better at the slower speed of the 721. For the money, it's a great deal! and I can attest to the fact that the cp2500 has a long cut/plot life.
  7. It takes a lot of practice but it's worth it in the long run! The bad thing is when you go to someones computer that doesn't have the tablet or pen and try to work a graphic like you would on your computer. Just try not to get frustrated and quit working with it because it really will pay off for you in the long run.
  8. If you plugged your usb cable into a different usb port then it will initialize a different com port. If you are using the prolific usb driver it should tell you the com port it is using in the device manager of your computer. You just need to go to your design software and check the cutter setting to make sure the com's match up.
  9. I run the Wookie (copam 2500) off of a usb port on my laptop. I have two usb ports with four port hubs on each one. If I unplug the cutter and change the usb port, it put the cutter on a different com port. and if the weight of the attached cables on the hubs disconnects the port I have to restart flexi's production manager. But if you set your cutter options to return to origin, then you have no need to reset the cutter. When you reset the cutter, the software has already initialized for the settings before the reset and that's why it locks up on you. It's trying to read a communication that is no longer there. Hope that helps!
  10. My tablet comes in handy when I want to work up a sketch from a customer. I just slip their sketch under the plastic sleeve and trace it out to work with. I also use the pen in photo shop to blend down hard lines on the abstract art I create. And i also use it when I do embroidery digitizing. The pen is hard to work with at first. but with a lot of practice it is more useful than a mouse at times.

    A note about this board

Thanks Dakota! It's nice to know that the things I posted helped even though I was not on here.

    A note about this board

I can remember when you only had one cutter! I guess you really must be " Pretty Good " at it. I also remember when this board started with me and 5 other people. Now . at over 7200 members I would say that it's quite a change.

How you been Five? I'm going to try to stick around for as long as I can. I noticed you're still hot and heavy on the board. That's a good thing Man!

    Class Action Lawsuit?

Hard to get much " public outcry " when you have a few thousand people using UScutters and making a living with them!

    Class Action Lawsuit?

I know the feeling! I died for over 20 minutes 30 years ago. It was a real heart breaker when the angel of death turned off the light I was running for and sent me back.

Thank you Sir! I just watched one of your old vids on screen printing. I was really good! Except at the end your camera shot must have been off because it showed a baseball cap with an embroidered C on it! LOL! It's good to see your still helping and raising hell on the board man!

    A note about this board

Sorry guys! I have been away far too long with health and family issues. The pics aren't up on those sites anymore because I took the sites down. I'll have to start posting some of the work I'm doing again.

    Class Action Lawsuit?

I have been away from the forum for quite awhile. It's nice to see Banner John is still as outspoken as ever! I will tell you that I have had R2 (mh721) since 2006 and my copam cp2500 since 2007 and have never had any major hardware problems with either one. I did have to replace the kill switch on R2, but it's because I have ran that cutter hours and hours, years and years and finally wore something out! I noticed a lot of the problems people were having with blown boards and other parts when I first started on this forum were due to wanting to turn it on and cut without reading and learning the basics of setting up and running the cutters. I can say that at times I am just as bad about not reading the destructions, but when it comes to paying quite a bit of money for a machine, I do slow down long enough to find out what NOT to do before I run the machine. I think if ever there was a class action suit filed against UScutter, I would have to be on the list to testify about how not only the cutters they sell perform, but the tremendous amount of support UScutter has given! And I DO NOT, nor have I ever worked for UScutter! But if they ever opened up a Texas sales branch I would gladly sell their products.
  20. Here are a couple of pics I just did of the placement of a 15" roll.A 15" roll of perforated is actually 14 inches.I set the pinch rollers on the perforation as you can see. When I hit the measure and sheet,it put the blade right at the edge of the vinyl. The design I cut out has no meaning other than something to work up so I could cut a 15.The design is 14 inches, and it ran almost to the edge on both sides.I hope this helps in understanding placement of a smaller roll.On r2,I set it close to the blade. But on the cp-2500 you can actually set it anywhere on the cutter,as long as the pinch rollers fall in a green area.Sorry for the pics, but it's night here and my camera doesn't do low light well. http://route66guitarparts.com/cp250015inchroll.jpg http://route66guitarparts.com/screwed2.JPG
  21. I have a suggestion.Wht don't you design a netted recieving basket to fit with the same plates as the carrier rollers, but fitted on the inside of the stand and facing the front. It would help keep the product off the floor, and it would strenghten the stand.Just a thought. Bill
  22. When I set the cp-2500 up in signcut,I was having problems between communication to the lpt port.I went to the copam sites download section and downloaded the win2000 driver.I unrared it to a folder I named copam2500,then I went to the start bar in windows and clicked on the printers and faxes - add new printer.I chose not to do a search and clicked on have disk. When I went to browse,I went to the copam2500 folder and it shows - cutt.inf .I clicked on it and it showed an icon with letters cutter.I then went into signcut - settings - cutter -and under device when I clicked it,it brought up all of the available ports to use.One of them is letters cutter instead of lpt1.After that I have had no problems cutting in signcut.I have posted the link to the download site below. http://www.copam-electronic.com/en/copam%5Fdownload/
  23. I wish I could say I was back on the forum. But the way things are around my house, I wouldn't want to say anything time wise. My wife has had serious health problems this last year and she is still fighting them. Right now she is having her kidneys trying to shut down on top of everything else. My mom had 9 stents put in her the first of the year and my dad had quadruple bypass surgery the first of the year. I am probably on the verge of death, but I don't do doctors, so I really won't know until I reach the afterlife! I am still running the copam cp2500 and R2D2 with no hassles at all!!!! I have done some killer one color white vinyl cut transfers on black t-shirts lately for my hizznhearse web site. I have also been cutting some large decals for my ebay store. I still do most of my work at night, staying up until 4 a.m. because it's about the only time I can concentrate of graphics without interruptions or going to the dr. or a hospital.I've seen some of the designs posted on the forum and all I can say is X-O-LINT!!!! It is really great to see all the members on the forum now. I can remember when I first signed up,it was like talking to the air because there were no members. I have my Daughter running R2 now and she loves it! She was running a plot of Cap'n Jack Sparrow she worked up and the first star wars movie was on t.v. . It was like listening in stereo as I heard the t.v. and listened to R2 running. My daughter just laughs at me when I call the 721 R2. But she had never seen a star wars movie until tonight. She doesn't laugh now after hearing the real R2. She got a little upset because she didn't set the design up right for the plot and got a write port error half way through Johnny Depps face. I have seen the same look she had just a few years ago when I first started using my cutter. Poor old Johnny! But you can bet she will be working on it tomorrow to finish it out. She has a lot of drive, especially when it comes to having an 18 inch wide design of johnny depp she created hanging in her bedroom! She started college this year and is majoring in graphic design. She said when people ask for her portfolio, she was just going to give them the link to her ebay store. That should be a big seller for the mh721. The fact that it is so easy to run. She has had fewer problems than I when I first started trying to run R2. But then again, she has someone who can walk her right through the steps, which I never had. But I really think this forum is the greatest seller for the cutters! There is still no other cutter forum that offers the help and knowledge that is offered here on this forum. You guys are doing are great job! Even ol' Ken is shaping up to be quite the tech! JK!! Hope to be back later, but if not, Let's not say goodbye... ... let's just say Au Gratin! Billy

    Crab Plotter Art

I ran this last night.I had originally set it up as a three color, with dark and light red.But after it got close to the end of the dark red,I decided to leave it like it was, skipped the light red and ran the black. The red is a fiber tip and the black was done with ball point,on premium bond 8.5 x 11 card stock. The way the plotter ran the design,it looks like a four color job.I was a little upset when it started because I got in a hurry and didn't seperate the overlap. But I couldn't believe the effect I got from what I consider a mistake. 25. I watched a few of the videos that were posted yesterday. While they are good at showing how to run a cutter, but they aren't worth a damn at showing people on this forum how to run a 721 - 1351 or cp-2500.We have people daily having problems on running the cutters they purchased from uscutter,NOT ROLAND!I watched two videos and all I could think is how nice that we are promoting rolands now.I'm sure roland appreciates it since they don't even do what we are doing. When I signed up to this forum,it was because it was to help on the cutters that were sold through uscutter and selltopia.I do understand that you don't have to own a uscutter to be on the forum, but it would sure be nice if we had videos showing tech support for our cutters.I spend whatever free time I have jumping to this board to offer what help I can, which at times is very limited.I can't and won't offer support for any other cutters than the ones I run because I don't know anything about other cutters. If you have a need for people to post videos, then have them post videos on running the cutters that the people who try to help on this forum are running.Just my 2 cents.
