MH721 blade not falling on vinyl to cut

I have been using this cutter for a couple months and its worked virtually flawless. After a few days of non-use I tried to cut out some graphics and THOUGHT it had cut them out but it turns out it just went through all the motions but never actually cut on the vinyl. The blade isnt dropping down onto the vinyl. Like I said before, it goes through the motions as if it were cutting...it just doesnt drop the blade from its default position. Any quick fixes to this problem? I am new to this and know relatively little about vinyl cutters but am very tech savy.

Yes, make sure it is grounded, especially if you are in a carpeted area.
