I can't believe it's been almost a month since I got this machine and I've been having a blast!  Aside from a few erratic incidents of cutter going banana's on me I've been watching some vids on BoobTube and attempted my first 2-layer decal with success!   I won't say what this first attempt was due to Copyright but I will say red and white umbrella was a good choice due to the simplicity and small size.   Now I just need to get the motivation to try using Signblazer and Inkscape instead of exclusively using SCALP.

I may have failed to mention that the erratic behavior, even tho I have cutter grounded to stand with stranded speaker wire, was due to static charge buildup from having carpeted Mad Scientist Laboratory.  I've overcome this problem by pointing a Negative Ion Generator at the vinyl and rollers from a distance of about 3 feet (I cannot use a humidifier since lab was an 'add-on' to the house and I rely on window unit for A/C).  Ever since then I've had absolutely no 'Maximum Overdrive' effect and only experience the rare, odd cut that results in my 'speaking in tongues' and starting over.  Aside from cleaning blade before any cut with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel the only other maintenance I've performed was to put a drop of sewing machine oil on the blunt end of the blade to enable it to spin more freely in the holder.  I'm still using the first 45 Degree blade with success and give it an inspection each time under a magnifying lamp (Picked it up at Staples, 90 LED's and 3X magnifier.  Makes weeding much easier).

Just wanted to give everyone an update and also give Thanks for the warm welcome and priceless advice here and in other parts of the forum.  :)
