Illustrator - Cutting up an object to fit

My client has these long thin swooshes that go on a van. If I cut them like they are drawn it would waste a ton of vinyl.

What is it called in Illustrator where I can slice the length and put them next to each other? Sort of pile them up to use the negative vinyl that would have been wasted?
