rynosaur 0 Posted February 21, 2008 Hey all! My name is Ryan and I am out of Northwest Indiana. I am on the Cutting Edge Sand Carving forum and am getting into glass and stone etching so to help me I purchased a PCUT 36" off of EBAY from the store. We'll see how well it does. I have Adobe Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop 6.0. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that has a question about this but I know the PCUT comes with Sign Blazer elements. How do I take something from one of either of the Adobe programs and cut it? Do I have to buy MORE software or save my images 10 different ways? HELP
bk2design 1 Posted February 21, 2008 Welcome! Save your images as a illustrator 8 eps and they should import fine. The photoshop images will need to be vectorised, you can do that in illustrator or signblazer. Kenimes just posted the info on doing it in signblazer. No need to buy any more software. Here's ken's post: To vectorize in SignBlazer: Import image in raster (bitmap) format. Select the image. Go to Image, then Mode, and set it to monochrome. Use the threshold settings to get a good monochrome. Once it is set to monochrome, go back to Image, then to Vectorize. Just click OK. Now you have the bitmap still on top of your vector, so you need to right click on the image and delete the bitmap, which will leave you with the cuttable vector. Keep in mind that an image needs to be of high quality if you want a good vector out of it.
