application tape issues

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!!

I have spent a while looking through the forums looking for the answer to my question but I have been unable to find anything.

I am having an issue with applying application tape to my decals. The smaller decals are not so bad but the larger ones can be a nightmare.

I have lost money on my last job having already wasted 7foot of white vinyl trying to apply tape to a branch decal. The problem is that the tape wrinkles

and tunnels and then gets worse once I roll up the decal to post in a cylinder. Quite honestly most of my decals will tunnel and wrinkle once I roll them up

then if I unroll them they can look hideous and I then chuck them in the bin!!!I know the vinyl is not harmed by the wrinkles etc ( I roll the decal with the tape side on the outside) and have advised my customers that this can happen and not to worry but I just hate the look and wonder where I am going wrong.

I used 24" transfer rite app tape and Avery 700 vinyl.

Anyone help!!

Vinyl comes rolled up when you buy it so that shouldn't be a problem for the larger vinyl projects I use this from US Cutters. Others have made their own and you can also look into a big squeegee.....
