tsmart 0 Posted April 23, 2011 Ok so i have a job, basically the shop front window is 2500mm wide and 1800mm high and i am to do some sign work in the bottom quarter of it.. After this customer wants from bottom up of window painted up in black 1 meter high behind the vinyl as this is where the bench will sit up to around the shop. Originally i was going to use vinyl to black it out but since theres going to be an additional layer sitting in front of the black it will probabably look a bit ugly and not dead flat, and will take longer. What sort of paint is best to use for this application? prototype66 20 Posted April 24, 2011 clean glass very thoroughly with a detergent or tsp. Prime with XIM and paint with whatever you want.I recommend a very good 100% acrylic and sponge roller. Not in direct light and between 60 and 65 degrees so it doesn't dry too fast......but does dry. Read the XIM instructions completely and follow them to the letter and you should be golden. Then rinse with water and a lint free cloth buff dry. I'd not lay vinyl and paint when it shrinks it'll look bad. I'd cut a mask and use 1 shot to fill. Pull when almost dry... next day back up with black enamel. If you use a foam roller work the paint into it well or you'll get tons of small bubbles. Or brush and stipple with a wad of cheese cloth.
