slopchops 1 Posted January 10, 2008 Well I am new here and this is my first post. I lettered my first sign in 1955, a show card and got paid $5.00 for it. This told me it sure beat mowing lawns. I have met some interesting people in my career and met some that wasn't worth a bullet. I made a fair amount of $$$$$ and got beat out of a fair amount of the same. I have experienced the change in the sign industry for what I consider to be the worse because in yesteryear it took a good amount of skill to accomplish what we do today. Now with a digital computer, what took us many a hour can be done almost instantly and this has wrecked the sign market as I used to know it. Oh well, today it boils down to how many people you know and what do you belong to is about the only way to survive. My thoughts. I am retired now and I just piddle with signs doing the things I never had time for. Cheers all.[/img]
