Ishynryu is an outstanding art. One of the original forms. I studied Ishynryu back in North Carolina in the early 80's. I am now studying TaeKwonDo.

I trained in TaeKwonDo for several years as a teen. Then i joined the Army, they simplified it very much. My instructor in hand to hand laid it out simple. He said defensive postures are for the people who are trying not to get mugged. Here we get offensive, quick fast and deadly. The faster you make them see blood, the faster they will either Run or give up. Made a lot of sense.

have you watched the videos in the inkscape thread,?  They can walk you right thru vectorizing..  there is alot of useful info there.

I would assume the writing is in Japanese - since Ishynryu is a Japanese art.
