importing jpeg and bitmap graphics

I was told that the only graphics I could import to Sign Blazer were JPEG or Bitmap files.  I can import them but when I try to vectorize them I get an error message that says they are not monochromatic and cannot be vectorized.  Can anyone help me with this.  I am brand new to this and learning by trial and error.

the best way to vectorize is to use inkscape for free. That said, simple logos and whatnot do alright in SB, select all, then go to image-mode-monochromatic,  then vectorize.  This removes all the color from an image but does good on line drawings and black and white stuff
